Passionflower Leaves Changa
    #14888314 -

So I've often heard that Passionflower is an MAOI, so I figured of the leaves I have to use for Changa, they would be the best, but it then occured to me, I'm not sure if only the flower itself is na MAOI, or the leaves as well. I cant seem to find any mention in any other posts as to whether the leaves are active, or just the flower, so any help woulf be appreciated

If I'm not mistaken the leafs have the most alkaloids.

apparently passionflower is a very weak maoi, and is not suitable for smoking for some reason. i think it contains some undesireables that are not suited to smoking, or is a harsh smoke or something. it *can* be used as an maoi when brewed as a tea and eaten orally apparently.

caapi should be your number one goal, and second should be syrian rue. passionflower is more of a last resort.

but do your own research and find out for yourself just to make sure.

Really, really harsh smoke. I bought a 50g bag last year, was a mixture of stems, leaves and roots. Harshest stuff I've ever smoked.

Doesn't taste too bad if it's brewed into a tea with a bit of honey and sugar. Gives me some good dreams when I make a tea from it.

Dunno about passion flower, but I have a jar of B. Caapi extract sitting in my closet ready to be evapped onto a small portion of leaf for a 10x concentration... I'll admit it, I'm scared.

Does B.caapi need a tropical environment to grow?

Passion flower is an incredibly weak MAOI, probably not worth bothering with. I think it's alkaloid content is somewhere in the order of 80 times weaker than syrian rue, and also much weaker than banisteriopsis caapi. Rue is the strongest, I haven't tried it but I've frequently read it makes people sick. Shouldn't be a problem with changa though, still I'm unsure. Anyway, I advise you to buy dried B.caapi leaves and make an infusion extract using isopropyl alcohol (definitely worth it but takes around two weeks unfortunately). Or if you can, get 'caapi copy'. You can conveniently add it to any leafy blend, it's various harmalas in a liquid form. Seems like a bothersome task-list, yes. But you'll make it. If I managed to succeed, being the cut-corner cowboy that I am, it's not difficult. Ciao.

Thanks.

Sorry though you might of been from Oz and had a local website.

Illegal to import into Oz. Legal to have and grow the plant but anything else is considered a preparation.

Class A here and 1 Oz of it would be considered the same penalty as importing 1 Oz of heroin. It's farkin backwards.

I have found Banisteriopsis caapi 'Caupuri' in oz to buy for about $35 although it is being sold out of a much warmer climate then mine.

Hopefully it would survive in my greenhouse.... Ornamental purposes only of course.

i don't know much about it, but it is a tropical plant, it definately prefers a climate like that of brisbane or something, but it can survive in the colder areas, but it will wither and die during winter and then regrow during the warmer months.

do your research on it though and make sure its right for your area

I'm with you. I have no intention of killing a sacred plant and would not purchase without full research.

Think I might have to move north although where I live we do get an awesome mushrooms season...
