Struggling with religion
    #14815050 -

Well hey everybody!

So There no really way to start this but to dive in i guess. Pretty much i was raised a christian. Went to church every Sunday my whole life. I pretty much woke up one day and said. Hmmm I going to figure out what i believe instead of believing whats been shoved down my throat my whole life. So now im having a real hard time Believing the whole... If you dont accept jesus as your savior and bring all your friends to church to do the same your damned to hell. So after realizing that really doesn't click with me. I'm not don't really know where to go from her. I mean i still believe there is some kind of god... Not some magic man that floats around and the sky and looks over everything but something. So i was really just wondering if anyone else has been something similar to this and has any words of wisdom for me. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Nobody on this planet is any different from you. We're all running on the same hardware, a human brain. Don't ever trust anyone more than you trust yourself.

It is not necessary to use pre-determined belief systems. It is not necessary to abandon them, either. Live in a way that makes sense to you on a deep and honest level. That's all I gots to say about that.

Thanks guys that kinda what i was leaning towards... I just recently got into phycodelics but have had the religion problem for awhile now. I have tripped like 3 times on pretty small doses highest being 3.5 dryed and am planning on taking 4.5 in a couple of weeks. Do you think that is to much ?

Bottom line is everyone handles their drugs differently. If you were comfortable with 3.5, and you're curious to try more, 4.5 sounds like a fantastic idea. If 3.5 scared the piss out of you or if you've been having bad reactions, I wouldn't up the dose, but it doesn't sound like that's the case. If I were you, I'd go for it. Worst thing that happens is you come back with a hell of a story.

My personal 2 cents, but it might help.

If your brought up to really belive that some guy is up there watching everything you do and will judge you for it, it is really scary and hard to let go of that.. for fear of what he may do to you. (i stopped thinking like this and let go at about age 13, it wasnt easy when your told its real and everyone else acts like it is)

However.. truly, it dosent matter what youve been told about religon. all you need to do is understand and feel how you would like to be treated and then be an example of this in life. the greatest teachers for life and spirituality are understanding and compassion. not the bible, koran, or any other person speaking real loud.

all the books, viewpoints, lectures, yelling, screaming and acts of desperation are just that. desperate to get your attention. instead apply your attention to avoiding behavior that hurts others and building behavior that helps and you will be an example of the point religon is trying to make about without being caught up in all the bullshit doctrine, rhetoric and ritual thats far off the mark.

mushroom arent a bad place to start either  just remember to go easy at first

Well as lonmg as you dont do what Aleister Crowley did and start worhsipping the devil. Ie., he deeply resented christianity so went all anti-Jesus and suckin up to the 'enemy of God' etc

I see that as the inevitable flip side of the 'all good' christian trip.

Now, I am coming from a Goddess spirituality so I will try and briefly explain it to you, and then it is upt you what. The Jesus myth has the main character Jesus being destined to be crucified/sacrficed for the guilt debt of mankind, then he is rsurrected and returns to the 'father'(ie he doesn't choose to be reborn to the Mother)

Now, that story is made to be HISTORY, right? it is to believed as actually happnening in history, and that is the creed--believing in 'his' resurrection. But in the ancient history of mythos motif of the 'dying' god~man---in the pagan mythos of the Goddess, the god is the ever-living, ever dying, ever regenerating son/lover of the Goddess. Now what this means is that this 'god~man' has mythical associations---he is not literal, but is a deep mythical meaning for nature which is sacred and cyclical, it lives, dies at winter, and regenerates every spring. So dig, Mother Earth is our home. We are born out of Her, are fed, clothed, watered, nurtured, we breathe Her air, etc and we die into Her, and this is also cylic, life and death recycle each other. you cannot HAVE life with out death and vice versa.
Now the son~lover also is associated with the sacred plants, and aesthetically especially the phallic-looking sacred entheogenic mushrooms which when plucked and eat 'die' and the sense of expanded consciousness you have a 'reborn/'resurrected'--that is the essence of the meaning of resurrection. it is NOT history and factual, it is the actual feeling we have in ecstatic spiritual experience which has meaning for you me him her now in eternal time.
When we have these experiences in this spirit we become lovers of Mother Earth and the Great Cosmic Goddess which includes whole of nature + universe. We imbine deeply the meaningof immortality which isn't in some future like the patriarchal belief systems make out, it is now! The very cyclic movement of nature of which you are a part IS sacred. This is real meaning of enlightenment.

So WHY did patriarchal belief systems happen which divided this sense? i think that somehow left brain thinking--which sees one-at-a-time (like how you read these words, one at a time) became dominant over right brain which sees things all-at-once (like when you look at a view of nature, a painting, a face. you see complex dynamic information all at once), and there is awareness of connections. This would mean that left brain would not see connection between complimenatary reeality such as light and dark, good and bad, male and female and male, inside and out side, life and death, and so on, and rather see them in conflict and one side superior over the other. And even try and dismiss one 'side, like materialistic science will not even recognize the spiritual nature of reality!

So taking good and bad. Christianity emphasizes 'good' and so denies its OWN 'bad'---so eg in its time it has forbade even dancing, and alughing as being 'bad', and all the stuff it rejects it projected onthe 'devil', and ironically for those feeling very abused by this hypocritical belief system, not realizing the deep mind fcuk worldview of it will choose 'bad' and distrust 'good'. So people like Crowley who hated Christianity would preach being against any form of gentleness and compassion and choose sadism etc.

The christians persecuted indigenous peoples both in Europe and the 'new World' who were lovers of Mother Earth and partook of sacred plants . because the christians had indoctrinated themselves that earth was ruled over by the devil, so any communing with earth ins a spiritual way was seen as diabolical. And this fear had then torturing and mass killing women etc! which was evil

i've read most of terence mckennas books, food of the gods is one of his better books imo. that and the archaic revival and true hallucinations, as well as the invisible landscape.

I also recommend some alan watts videos on youtube if you have the time. Lsiten to their ideas and form your own conclusions, don't take them as objective truths though- but I think they make it pretty clear in their writings to not do such a thing.

The CLUE is DONT CARE!! Do NOT care if you go to hell. the most dispiable wretch in my view is the shit who does 'good' cause he or she fears their arse is gonna be roasted. I would sooner ANY day someone who didn't give a shit and was GENUINELY real

IT IS WHAT IT IS. GOD IS IRRELEVANT. YOU ARE GOD AT THE SAME TIME HE IS WITH YOU. YOU BECOME YOUR THOUGHTS. BELIEVE IN THE I AM THAT I AM BECAUSE I AM UNCONDITIONAL LOVE, WHICH IS FORMLESS.

Believe in unconditional love as the one and only truth to God. When people start waking up and realizing LOVE is the most important lesson, it will take over as a turning point in Earth's history. It's what Jesus was here for, it's what Buddha was here for, IT'S WHAT WE'RE ALL HERE FOR.

Don't think of Jesus, think of your very own Christ Conscious, that is the mediator between YOU and God. Love.

Without a doubt, HAVE FAITH IN LOVE.

I was raised a Christian but started questioning things at 12, and now I don't believe in any religion. Thankfully my mother was understanding and we still have discussions about god as such.

I would like to point out that not everything mentioned in the bible leads to an unhealthy way of thinking. Sure, there is a lot of bull, but the commandment of 'do not kill' is a notable moral, i think. My advice is to try and see everything as a suggestion, and don't believe anything that you don't want to.

Some people take things too seriously, as in this video, which is also fairly comical. I believe that there are demons out there, but this guy takes it too far and connects too many dots. And IMO, magic can be good, too.

LOL yeah them freakin christians demonize EVERYTHING! those fukers DRIVE you to their invention the 'Devil' as sure as eggs is eggs. They have a LOT to answer for. they are always pointing the finger at that they have cast THERI evil eye on, and if you remind them about THIER bloody history, their Inquisitions and wars etc they say 'oh thats was the 'bad christians'' so yet again they are demonizing their OWN people who believe what they do. So they are always in denial and will never realize that they are imbalanced. as soon as you claim you are 'all good' you create 'all evil' which is what they have done. trying to live up to their image of their all good god in the sky' ALL stuff they feel uneasy about, they just project onto their evil and other people they call demonic.

And people who have this worldview CAN go very evil, because they just flip over into the side they had rejected and which now resents 'good'. it is a total mindfuck
