    #14675716 -

i found a garden of what look to be T.pachanoi cactis growing on the. its very hot and dry here, good for cactis!

was wondering if anyone could corfirm what species they are?

i can take more pics from different angles if these are not enough for a proper ID.

To my eye it seems a mixed patch of Juul's Giant (the ones that try to have only 1 spine per areole) and some generic non-backberg pachanoi (backberg looking but with longer spines).
Offer the owner a few coin for some clones.

Really beautiful pachanoi.  I hope you don't "liberate" any of them without talking to the landowner, I've made quite a few friends by ringing doorbells and offering to trade or buy a cutting or two.  Who knows, maybe the person who owns them posts on Shroomery!

I spoke to the guy and he said i could buy a few if i wanted but he wasnt able to tell me what species they were, which i thought was strange! he said they are just for decorating the restaurant. hell sell a few nice big one for an OK price... there not cheap but if they are legit and in good condition then i will concider it.

I took some more pics so i would maybe this will help. ill only buy them if i'm 100% sure what they are and if I know they are active.

cheers people!

Kidding  (although technically, wait 24 hours inbetween bumps.)

To answer your question,  every single one of those pics is active.  I'd grab two cuttings of the each type...  if they ever flower,  you'll get seeds  (since they're self sterile,  you need 2 different types to get seeds)    If you're in the same climate, you might want to think about planting them in the ground during their second or third year.

Most of them look very nice and healthy. I am no expert, but I think it's likely that they are all T.Pachanoi, but the first one could possible be a Bridgesii? Idk.

Maybe you could haggle getting the dying plant in the centre of this picture for free, and make an extraction to see how potent the cacti are? I don't know if there would be a potency loss being dried up by the sun though.

  Juat grow em back to health.  Then you have an all you can eat buffet.

No not a bridgesii,  btw.  They're all pedros.

EDIT:  the one in the background of pic 7 is budding.  what state/country is this place?

Beautiful Pedro man, Trichcereus pachanoi indeed. I would definitely buy those from the dude if he's offering a good deal on them.

thanks guys ill go down and see if he will lower his original price... i said i wanted some of the best looking/biggest ones n he said he wont go below 250euros... he doesnt even know that they are psycadelic by the sounds of it... hes imply got them there as decoration! im gunn ask him where he got them from...

btw these are in SPAIN, CANARY ISLANDS (lanzarote is the name of the island to be specific). its a small island n i live 15-20 mins away in the car so the climate is the same. only difference is i live further inland! i think ill buy 3 nice ones... ill make a tea from one of them and plant the other two in some pots.

hehe cant believe what i have found! it truly i sa beautiful garden!

If you think that is worth what you are buying, with the height and amount in consideration. I would go with HarveyWallbanger and just plant all of them, and just take a cutting from the biggest one if you want to try soon. You wouldn't want to use up a whole cacti that would be able to sustain yourself for life and that costed you so much.
I don't think it may be a bad idea aswell though to see if you can haggle to try and get dying part of the cacti I shown in that pic for free (convince him that by doing so, it would be like a favour) on top of the 3 you want to purchase. I think it looks beyond the point of going back to health, look at the angle it has bent to.

yea ill see if i can make him an offer.. try n get the price down! 250 for 3 seems a lil much! even tho they do look nice!

i want to ensure that it works since it will be my 3rd attempt with san pedro (other two attemps were with 18 inchers and didnt quite get me where i wanted to be, i ended up having to top up the trip with some shrooms about 4-5 hours in) so i think i will try with atleast 30 inches this time!

you'll get a much better deal if you just take smaller pups, and grow them to size.  (it doesn't take but a year or two of pampering to get them to a respectable size)

the price is so high cause you want the biggest and most beautiful of his decorations.

well in the end i bougfht 3 of the cactis! hehe two smaller ones around 18-20 inches long) and e nice big one (45 inches long)

how do i plant them ? at the moment ive got them on a towel on the floor so that the wound at the bottom can dry and heal up a bit...
how long should i wait till i put them in soil?

how big should the pots be?

how deep should i burry them?

what mixture of soil should i use?

here are some pics of the ones i purchased... would be nice if i could have somone tell me that the 3 i got are 100% T.PACHANOI, just to put my mind at rest.

keep in mind i live on the island of LANZARTE in the CANARIES ISLANDS, which are a part of SPAIN. The weather is very dry, hot, windy and can be very dusty. however its not uncommon for it to get damp over night and the odd shower every now and then is quite normal...

i didnt do the best job at cutting them one looks a bit messed up on the bottom but im sure that will be ok once in the soil right?

i got a good price in the end coz i chose some there werent in the best condition but still looked pretty decent. the big one has some dried up wholes in it and a few creamy dry spots and would like to know what it is...

are they good to go?

Let them dry a few weeks, should be fine.
