If I can remember correctly while reading LSD My Problem Child by Albert Hoffman, in the hoffman studies on LSD, the longest amount of time an LSD trip lasted was 16 hours, plus normal after effects. Even with EXTREMELY high doses, the longest was still just 16 hours with after effects. There is no such thing as being "permafried" even if you think you will be.

If you feel "high" still, you're probably just experiencing after effects, which are completely normal. I remember when I used to do LSD, even after the trip, I would still be up and my mind still zooming. These were after effects.

Try to get some sleep. Do you take medication for your schizo/bipolar? If you take seroquel, I suggest you take some of that because it will help you sleep. It will get rid of the zooming mind aspect as well.

The BEST thing to do after a trip is to get PLENTY of sleep. 8 hours.

If you happen to be sensitive to after effects, they might go on for about a week. You may see colors way more brighter than you ever did, you might start staring at something and it slightly slightly starts to shift and melt a tiny bit. These are all normal after effects that CAN last up to about a week.

What is normal anyway? I've taken LSD upwards of 100 times and I feel pretty normal, and I definitely don't consider myself "perma fried." That is an urban myth. LSD isn't neurotoxic, anyhow.

what makes you think that being permafried has ANYTHING to do with neurotoxicity?

It can also refer to a state of mind - in other words, be purely psychological.

I think permafried simply refers to drug-induced psychosis. This usually only occurs in poly-drug abusers though. And who's to say the poly-drug abuse caused the psychosis? maybe the psychosis caused the poly-drug abuse. :awedance:

I bet he is fine by now...probably after glowing a bit.

When I take psychedelics, no matter which ones, I usually feel like I am tripping until I go to sleep.

Its all in your head man. The more you think you are permafried the more its gonna stick around. Don't think about it. Its easier said than done, but just keep at it and you'll have nothing to worry about. Lay off the harder drugs and try to minimize your smoking, drinking, and caffeine use. It would be even be better to completely stop using all drug use till you get your head back in place. Working out helps too.

I think bipolar just means your more sensitive than others. So my advice is try not to be so negative. Just lighten up and look at the bright side of things. As for schizophrenia, pretty much just means you got trust issues. Once again, just stay positive and don't be such a pessimist. I think negativity is the real illness. The more you can look at the bright side of things the less problems you will have and the more happy you will be.

It's always easier said than done. But I know it's possible because I used to be the same way. I mean if your gonna be a glass of orange juice, at least be a glass of orange juice that is half full.

So... FUCKING SMILE!  :zomgwtf:

i'd still recommend discontinued use of psychedelics if you've been diagnosed with those two disorders. these are probably the two most common disorders for causing problems with LSD that i've come across. that being said i don't think you're permafried but be careful in the future with stuff like that. it might not always get you the first time. look at Syd Barret

Don't worry, the drug will soon leave your system and you will return to normal. However, the only thing that will keep you feeling off is yourself. Worrying about mental changes will only make you notice them more, even if they aren't there to begin with, your mind will make you believe something is off.

Just chill out, relax, realize the drug will wear off - eat something too! Eating is a sure way to lessen the effects of any drug. You are not permafried.

When this is all over come back to us and tell us what you have learned. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and life is still going on.

My trip lasted 22 hours. I reached my peak shortly after posting this tread. That's at about the 16th hour of the trip.

It was beautiful. I can't explain a bit of it, but I loved it so much.

Do you think you may have ingested something other than LSD? Because I do.

Good to hear.  Did you chant the mantra from my first post or is that a long lost memory?  Don't worry, it never makes any damn sense to me either after the bad part is over.

No way, dude. Bad is not a word I would use to describe what happened. I was tired of tripping, but I hadn't seen everything the acid had in store for me. When that peak hit, I lost all sense of good and bad. Everything just was and I was passively accepting, letting the waves of thought flow through me.

There was no, "Never again!" moment. Once I saw what this drug is capable of, I knew that I would be doing it again sometime.

I think I've tripped enough to keep me satisfied for a few months, maybe a year. Just going to see what happens and go from there.

 Just saying it's probably not LSD. But then again you claim to have a psychological disorder so maybe this is just a good sign to quit while you're ahead.

I don't say this happened to you but you did post a thread that showed some genuine fear and anxiety at the possibility of permanent damage and then seemed to brush it off when the smoke cleared. My experiences with some powerfully bad trips had me in full terror mode the likes of which were at the extremes of human fear.  And just like you after the trip shifted gears, I'd conveniently forget, literally forget, what happened.  This cycle repeated itself often to the point where I'd write down how horrible it was, how evil and wrong it felt and then once I came back around, my words would be meaningless.  I'd read my warnings or listen to myself in audio recordings and they just didn't make much sense.  They lost all urgency and significance to me.

But when another bad trip would rear its ugly head, all of my warnings, memories, and cautionary advice would suddenly crystallize and become starkly clear.  And then I'd forget, the cycle repeating.  Again, you might not have this strange psychological mechanism at play, but when I recognized it, it was a type of epiphany.  When I read about it in literature about addiction and drug abuse, it was a powerful type of enlightenment for me and a disturbing insight into my drug-taking behavior.  Humbling shit, brother.
