I went to cabo, mazatlan, and puerto viarta or whatever when I was younger. mazatlan was the most aweomse we went out into the country and saw pyramids and some cool local artwork and shit.

Ya listen to the american media, CNN and FOX news are a GREAT source for accurate world news. I mean if the American media says anything, it must be true.

Well with Cabo the risk is worth the reward, plus there really is no risk there... except for maybe going out and partying too hard only to wake up finding one of your kidneys is missing.

I worked with a lot of immigrants at my last job and it's definitely still really bad. It's one situation the media isn't overly sensationalizing.

Apparently it's the worse at border towns, anywhere close enough to smuggle drugs across pretty much.

I've actually never heard of Cabo, but it looks beautiful. I really really really need to go to the beach soon.

yah border towns are the worst.... shit is very real the cartels are in a constant battle for drug routes. Cartel members being chased down the Rio Grande river by the border patrol all kinds of crazy shit

There are some pretty light skinned Mexicans who are native.

I was constantly being asked if I was from Mexico at my last job. Mostly because everybody there was, and I had a really dark tan since the job was outside.
But yeah, I'm a white guy, and I've been told that there are much whiter Mexicans out there who fair fine :shrug:

I think the main thing is being able to fluently speak Spanish with a convincing accent.
I've got the accent, but my Spanish sucks.
Also, you don't want to appear wealthy. Basically you just want to blend in with the crowd as if you were a local.

I guess I should mention that I was using CouchSurfing while there as well..

Despite what you may think, in general, CouchSurfing is the safest way to travel. You have a local showing you around all the time.

I'm actually going out tonight with a bunch of surfers from Kabul Afghanistan. :awesome:
