What the fuck. I hate the American government. Theya re trying to pass a bill that will make it a FELONY to stream copyrighted material, like music playing the background of a YouTube video. Somebody please kill me.

Tell Congress to oppose S. 978, the new "Ten Strikes" bill

Here they go again: The big business lobbyists who are behind the Internet Blacklist Bill are already making the sequel. THIS WEEK Senators will be voting on a "Ten Strikes" bill to make it a felony to stream copyrighted content -- like music in the background of a Youtube video -- more than ten times.

As the writers at TechDirt point out, under this bill you could go to jail for posting video of your friends singing karaoke:

The entertainment industry is freaking out about sites that embed and stream infringing content, and want law enforcement to put people in jail over it, rather than filing civil lawsuits.... We already pointed to one possibility: that people embedding YouTube videos could face five years in jail. Now, others are pointing out that it could also put kids who lip sync to popular songs, and post the resulting videos on YouTube, in jail as well.

That's right: Ten strikes and you could get jail time.  Less than two weeks ago, the Hollywood industry magazine, Variety, reported, "Industry lobbyists pressed House members on Wednesday to pass legislation that would make illegal streaming of movies, TV shows and other types of content a felony...."

Only days later, the MPAA is getting its wish. Will you email your lawmakers and tell them to vote against the Ten Strikes Bill? Just add your info at right to automatically send this note to them, under your name and from your address. (You can edit the letter if you'd like to.)

That sounds about right. I think most people aren't going to put forth the effort to organize or stage stuff, but if this bill gets passed and even more follow it, I think everybody is gonna be PISSED; enough to not give a shit about what they do, as long as they get their internets back.

Touché, but we still should fight it as much as possible. If we just let it continue things will end up a lot worse than if we resist. I'm talking a police state and martial law; which is far-fetched, but I can see many politicians supporting it.

they could easily enforce it.

We have plenty of land to build more jails.  Once the law gets put into effect the numbers will be cut to 1/4th

torrents/pirates websites will be next, hiding in another country isn't going to save people for much longer.

Furthermore, most are still under the illusion that if its "private" there protected.

Lastly, this isn't a lawsuit brought by a record label or something this will be a federal law.  There's a reason they've been spamming the tv with college ad's about getting into criminal justice, because internet law will be enforced.  People are moving from the real world to the internet, and as such so will the law.  This website and every other website your on is a playground, look around see the kids on the swings?  So now the internet isn't looking like such a great tool for you, now its looking like all it was ment to be was a great tool for them because now you can't take a shit without a internet tablet in your hands. You can't function in the real world without being "connected". This is how they create jobs, this is how they make money, this is how they control, this is a police state. Now say you post a goatse picture, in the future you can expect a fine or w/e, billed straight to your internet ID card.

You think this stuff can't be enforced?  Wrong, its already being enforced, people on those pirate sites getting caught left and right, shits happening its just a matter of when your affected.  You can't run, you can't hide.
