I think thats a hermit crab. if so i dont think they need a large body of water.

There is a such thing as  land crabs lol.

You keep them in Crabitat (terrarium with cool shit for them to climb or play with). Here is a good example, not mine but something I am modeling mine after.

I get them food from the pet store. Usually consists "a blend of premium ingredients like shrimp, fish, cocoanut, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains". I also keep a little pool of sea water and fresh water in the tank.

The crab on the far right is the Ecuadorian. Pincher is not as purple, they are much more active, have stripes on the side of it's face and eyes differ a lil bit from Caribbean's aka Purple Pinchers aka PeePees. The picture doesn't do em justice.

It's fun to watch them pick out a new home. I was thinking about making a tin foil hat shell for the quick sketchy Ecuadorian crab I call "Crazy"  :tinfoil:

I've had em for a couple years now..I've seen quite a few shell changes.. And a quite few deaths. Every so often they molt and that can take quite awhile. It's hard to tell if they are molting or dead. Their smell is usually a good indicator.

Soon as they get too big for a shell they pic a new one. I've got a variety in there. Just the other day "Shug" who's on the far left, moved out of his painted shell in which he was probably forced into at the pet store, into the biggest, gnarliest, sea-shell I had in the tank. Then climbed the biggest branch in the terrarium. It was quite inspiring. :strokebeard:
