I think Walter sounds like a good hermit crab name.

YES!!!
But on a serious note I had crabs once and after about a month they all started battling each other for their shells, I think thats why. There could only be one crab, all others limbs were strew about their swamp. True story, mayby you should put in some extra shells and hopefully they won't go to war.

I have a bunch of (around 50) hermit crabs living in the rock garden outside my house. Whenever I add new shells, the always fight over them, but never kill each other that I have seen. It is amazing to watch them swap out shells.
As for names, bplus or Ed come to mind.

Any decent-sized crab has a large, sturdy shell. A dog can not get through it and wouldn't think to. The best I've seen a dog do is flip the shell over. This puts the crab in his defensive position. In its defensive position the crab is holed up in his shell with the large pincher blocking the opening. The most a dog could do is flip the shell over again. When the dog sticks his face in the opening he is in for a nasty surprise!
New poll...
I'll upload pictures later on today.

How about Sensi?
I used to love my hermit crabs.....they were aquatic though. Was always neat when they would outgrow shells, molt and then pick a new home from the bottom of my reef tank
