same thing happened to mine..all you need to do is get some water and drop on top of your verm layer..if you have one..then the vermiculite will soak up the water..give more detail...cuz this might not work..worked great for me

eh? afoaf suggests not to open ur jars as contams might huddle in if absolutely necessary inject very little sterile water, past the dry verm layer...even this is risky.
Try taking off any tape that you have covering the holes. and/or turning the jars upside down, and just be patient

Umm, how far along has the mycel grown? How long has it been?

it's beena about about a week maybe like 8 or 9 days actually but the mycelium growth stopped completely four days ago. there were 3 other jars in the batch which are just finishing up colonization.

My jars seemed to stop colonizing at the top about a week ago. However, I realized the cakes kind of shrink when colonized and the dry vermiculate layer was falling down the sides and sticking to the cake. After a couple weeks I came up with the hypothesis that it was just sticking all over the top of the cake so you couldn't see the mycelium, so I birthed them anyways.

CO2 build up will slow down the colonization progress so by flipping the jars the CO2 will permeate down forcing the O2 up. I've read that you should flip the jars if colonizationhas halted at about 80%. Also try removing the tape or whatever from the holes to allow air exchange.

This is from "Alien's Incubator" http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/7970

"Tip: If your jars seem to stall near the bottom; the upper 80% percent or so is colonized but the last half inch or so at the bottom isn't, don't worry, this is very common. C02 can tend to accumulate like this in the bottom since its heavy and sinks. The remedy to this is to turn the jars upside-down for 2 or 3 days, this will allow the gas to escape and you will see them really take off and finish colonization. Don't worry if a few particles of the vermiculite falls out of the needle holes, most of it will stay in. The vermiculite seal is not as important at this point anyway since the upper section is colonized and protects itself well."

That's the point I was trying to make.

Well, this is bad or at least not very accurate information.

CO2 is beneficial at this stage of growth and doesn?t contribute to stalled cakes.

What DOES contribute to the cake stalling is lack of oxygen.
Read http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/23733 for more information.
