I think they permanently disabled it to reduce traffic.

if it wasn't for the damned email being disabled i'd have like 500 posts :smile:

HELP! There used to be an option to receive email replies to my posts. That option is no longer there!

Actually, with our latest upgrade, that feature has been enhanced and expanded. It's still there, and is even more flexible than before. :smile:

Instead of being able to select only your own posts to receive email replies, you now can choose to receive email replies to your favorite threads.

Here's how to set it up:

- Click on "My Home"
- Click "Edit" next to Subscribe/Unsubscribe from receiving posts by email....
- Set the option that says "Do you want all replies to your favorite threads emailed to you?" to Yes.

Then, as you are viewing a thread, you'll see a "Favorite Thread" toggle at the bottom. Click it to add (or remove) it from your favorite thread list. (You can also remove favorite threads from your "My Home" screen.)

Now, you'll receive emails for each reply to the thread (not just your posts).

If you ever wish to stop receiving emails, simply remove the thread from your favorites.

NOTE you must return to the forum to post replies. Replies via email do not go to the site administrators and do not end up in the forums.

There is also an checkbox option to "Add this thread to your Favorites" whenever you make a new post or reply. :wink:

Are you saying that we can no longer receive emails only when people are directly responding to our posts? It would seem not, and personally speaking, some threads get so off-topic that I'd only want email replies from people replying specifically to me - not every one line comment that's made.

Actually, I enjoy being consistent in replying to additional queries from threads that I may not otherwise re-read, so people don't think I'm ignoring them

Email notification should be:

Specific to individual posts a user makes in any thread (as it used to)


Specific only to threads marked as favorites, sending notification for every reply regardless of address (as it is now)

Meh, I never used it. Just maniacally clicking the page buttons and refresh works for me. I don't want 600 emails in my box waiting for me because I subscribed to a couple post whore threads.

Actually, what would really help would be if the title of the thread were in the subject of the email.

THat way if it's for a thread you've already read, you don't have to open it to know you've already read it. Which is a pain in the ass on a 56k.

No, it's not my job to pass along any and every suggestion that is made.

I feel the current system works fine and it shouldn't be changed. If you feel stongly that it's not a great system then you can spend the time writing up a post about why you feel this way and then you can post it on their site.
