Apparently, you have a problem with the general consensus that these are not an active species. That's alright with me, but these are not psilocybe cubensis.

They are not Psilocybe cubensis (correct spelling BTW)

But they definitely warrant further study.

They DO look like Psilocybes to me. They can be growing through the cow dung from lingin rich material beneath

Why do you guys always discredit anyone that posts something different?

I have had alot of messages discrediting my finds, although I keep finding Cyans and Friscosa's regularly.

Honestly I WOULD try to eat them.

Those are NOT Psilocybe.

Well, they don't to me. And that's not to discredit you, but they just honestly don't look like an active species to me. Agrocybe sounds like a good guess, which means that munching them won't produce any effects. Note that I don't recommend eating a mushroom of unverified identity, although I doubt it would do much harm in this particular case.

Cool, no worris if I am wrong, but if the person posts a spore print we may be able to tell more.

I see blueing in the middle mushroom and the mycelium.

Not saying you are wrong, not saying I am wrong.

But you gotta admit they look like something that would illicit more investigation.

Definitely, more information could help nailing it down; it's virtually impossible to say for sure what they are based on what we have. It's however very possible to be absolutely certain about some things they are not. So I still remain 100% sure they're not ps. cubensis, or even another ps. species. If you see a small rodent, it might be difficult to say what species it is exactly, but it's easy to tell it's not a frog. This mushroom is a small rodent to me, and ps. cubensis is a frog, so to speak. It might be different to you, which is cool, but it doesn't change my conviction.

The stem looks like the wrong color to be psilocybe.  Also the fact that they were growing from dung also indicates that they they are not Psilocybe since the Bay Area species are all wood lovers. 

I would try to find some fresher ones, get better photos, and do a spore print.  If the OP can't find any fresher ones, then what is the point of eating two little caps?  Even if they were active you wouldn't feel much from that little amount.

If this set of mushrooms turns out to be a psilocybe, I will post a video of me eating a pair of wool socks.

On a post like this when you see a dozen people replying "it's not a psilocybe" it's not because we hate the OP (or you) and want to deprive you of an active find for daring to violate our preconceptions of when actives can fruit.  It's because the mushroom has tons of features that are just completely inconsistent with it being a member of the genus psilocybe.

I may have missed something, but honestly, I've never seen any messages 'discrediting' your finds - just messages telling you not to pick pins.  I've sure of shit never seen anyone post telling you that your finds aren't cyans. 

Although it's really cool that you are still finding actives, it doesn't make you some sort of wizard - this season is just producing for a hell of a long time, many people who go out and look at their old spots are finding that they have at least some fruit.

@Wizzy -ha, that's a funny question! Not too many people are going to outright tell you where a specific spot is.  You have to learn the ways of the Force, er the Mushroom.

Study the Bay Area Official thread and check this forum daily to see what people are finding.  I just saw that a hunter in Santa Cruz found a stock pile of Gyms.  I have never tried gyms so it gives me a little motivation to go out and find some.  Also never tried Pan Subbs, so I need to learn where those grow and how to find them.

I guess what I am saying @Wizzy is that you need to put the time and effort in.

I ain't telling. Its been a year since the last major dump but with all the spores that drop I wonder I could hit the dumpsites with fresh straw/poo and get more to come up. time to read on feeding outdoor patches.

If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

There are lots of Psilocybes that come up in dung (or other substrates) that are NOT active.

You all seem to be focused on active Psiocybes.
I however like to find and identify mushrooms that aren't really active as well.

It is an interesting find.

And if you do not see a bluesish color at the bootom of the middle mushrooms stem then I will offer to eat auwelias gross ass rotten cyans.

You say 100% no.

I say maybe, please investigate more???
