Where do you live? They look like cubensis but, they are a bit dry. Find some fresh ones. If they make a purplish black spore print they are cubes.

i live in northern california. the San Francisco bay area. Napa to be exact. these are basically the freshest we could find since it rained about 4-5 days ago. we should have gone about 2-3 days after the rain

Pretty sure those are cubensis, I'm no expert though. Find fresher ones and take a print.

Nothing active. Cubes do not grow in California.

There's no way in shit that they are cubensis if he's in napa.

There's no blue staining on these at all, and in my experience most psilocybe species of these stature show at least some blue.  It also has no annulus when I'm pretty sure cubensis would have one.

There's no way it's cubensis and I'm pretty doubtful it's a psilocybe.

Even if there was cubensis debris nearby napa's weather conditions right now will not be fruiting cubes

Those look JUST LIKE the "Fatty Friscosa's" I've found.

To be honest I am still not sure they are "friscosa's", they look so much like a P. cubensis. When they dry up they are quite a bit smaller than a normal cubensis though (especially the stem)

The ones I find/found are all clumped together like yours as well.

I would NOT throw them out.

They are most likely some kind of Psilocybe !!!

Take a spore print if you can.

Don't listen to the haterz :crazy2:

Nice find !

I'd call it an Agrocybe sp.
Definitely not P. cubensis, and 98% not Psilocybe.

Agrocybe sounds about right. 100% sure they're not in the psilocybe genus. >100% sure they're not active.

Just like it is impossible for me to find P cyanesens in May / April

:laugh2:

I see blueing in the stems.

Spore print please.

No we're not 'haterz', we are just rational and have knowledge outside of active mushrooms.
Just because you want them to be psychoactive won't make it so.
Cyanescens/cyanofriscosa doesn't grow from dung. And they look absolutely nothing like cubensis or any dung dweller.
Sporeprint will be brown, but impossible to get at this stage.

He can take another print from more he or she finds.

All your old knowledge is being proved WRONG daily.
