First off, if you're going out hunting, I hope you have a good field guide to assists you. It's still a little early to go out looking. It all depends on what you're looking for too. Best time to look out here in my area is anytime between late July and October. I believe you'll be able to start scouring the land for psychoactive mushrooms as early as late April. Be sure to have a species in mind when you're looking too. If you're out looking for Psilocybe caerulipe, which I am usally able to find, you're not going to have much luck because it grows late in the season.

Dung-loving Psilocybe, or Psilocybe coprophila, are found as early as June and as late as October.

psilocybe corophila isnt active that was a mistake in staments and its been stated here time and time again and im relatively new here. about the ONLY active your likely to find in CT is panaleous subbalteatus its found at horse stables in the hay and compost pile where they dump the shit when cleaning stalls. i think search is still down and thats why im giving you info djd had the time of year right tho pan subbs grow from spring to fall. they arent very potent and wont nessacarily blue usually just the mycellium around the stem will. go to the faq page and read up on them in the hunting section. hope i helped peace

Do you know for a fact that it actually loves the dung?

I think not, no matteer what the words mean in English fromthe Greek I doubt if it is loe or in love with the dung. Dung has no feelings. At least none that I know of.

mj

So I erred in my greek. But then I never got to see the fat greek wedding. My AUnt was Greek, we use to love her greek opodered sugar cookies.

I wasn't talking about what it actually does. I was speaking of the etymology.

It was named that because its preferred substrate is shit. Hence it 'loves' to grow on shit. Just like i 'love' to talk shit.

What is love but a chemical reaction anyway? A certain stimulus makes us feel a ceartain way. Chemicals in the shit signal the fungi to grow.

woah what did I start? was merely an observation!

it had always been my impression that a coprophiliac was a person who recieved sexual thril from shit. So I just assumed that coprophilia was a love of shit. I'm with no-tone here. I don't think you would've picked up on it from "my big fat greek wedding," that particular film being devoid of scat scenes.. maybe something to look forward to in the sequel?

sorry that was sick. sequel indeed. tsk.
