critique my resume

Let me know what you think I could change or arrange to help me out. I am applying for graphic design jobs.

The layout is actually really nice but it got all scattered when I pasted it in here so please ignore the widows and bad paste job.

Under education, play with the listing of "Clarion" and "Bachelor of fine arts".  Not sure they should be two separate bullets.

"graphic design contests" is pretty vague.  If you won any put the specific contest.  If you participated in any that are immediately recognizable, you might want to list those.

I'd move "deans list" to the top of the list because we have some idea of what that actually is.  If you made it all the time, list the years 200X - 2011

If you have a solid GPA, you might want to list it.

Deans List - which semesters.

If you include the dean's list, you should include a GPA. They will want your GPA anyway, but if it is much below 3.0, don't tell them until the interview. I know companies that through out resume's for being under a 3.0 GPA just to reduce the amount of people they have to consider (big chemical, biological and pharmaceutical companies do this). You can also round the number 2.95 = 3.0.

Clarion University - add city and state.

essential computer programs - elaborate, tell them even if it is word, paint, or whatever.

Graphic Design contests - Too vague, elaborate

Induction into Phi Eta Honors society for college freshman - I would drop the freshman part. Some "freshman" honor societies are kind of a scam, just to get your money. Did you have to pay them to join?

Honorary member of Clarion Volunteer Fire Company - why? is it because you design stuff for them, give them money, help them out, or give them hand jobs? Enquiring minds want to know.

My gpa was well under 3.0! lol

I didnt have to pay to join the honors society. It was for college freshman with a gpa of 3.5 or higher. Heh... I was a good student until I met friends and started smoking pot and drinking. HAH

Honorary member of Clarion Fire Company because of 5 years of dedicated service while I was in college.

Put that in there. That way your potential employer might be inclined to believe that your lower grades were the result of fighting fires the night before exams~ :]

I know you're a fire fighter, but employees want to know more about you. If you've climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro or done something that will stand out, they might want to know about it. Also, be prepared to answer "Why did you put your membership to a fraternity on your resume?". Google some resume templates, there is tons of information out there.
