I didn't know I had to contribute anything.

My point was I can read Reddit too. I come here for different reasons and I find your holier-than-thou attitude a bit unnecessary. Bumping a thread 20 minutes after you make it isn't really necessary either, and if people don't want to discuss it on the Shroomery they don't have to. This isn't exactly the greatest place to talk about world politics.

If you would like me to I can go copy paste some things if you think that's so much more productive.

Not necessarily our best interests, though it's not your fault unless you're running the show and deserve every bit of respect regardless of how poorly our decision makers make their decisions.

There's a big dissonance I see where people can't seem to disagree with war in general (foolish) or, say, how thinly spread we are/what issues we choose to confront (less foolish) without insulting people who are just doing their jobs.

Media is about cross-communication. What good does a news article or opinion piece do if it exists exclusively on one forum, one website, one channel, or on one blog? This is kind of how the internet works, right? Crazy, I know.

As for my "sweeping generalization," that's a loud and clear no fucking shit. I spend the majority of my time in the Pub talking about feces, dirty vaginas, and minorities. The cynicism, in fact, only functioned because it was a sweeping generalization. So, what's the fucking point in you taking cheap shots?

And if this isn't the place to discuss politics, where is? The political forum dot com? :lol:

And there is no holier than thou attitude. I have friends and family in the Middle East and I lived there for a year.

It's still completely unfathomable to me that Algeria is taking great strides to prevent public assembly; even barricading streets so protests can't even begin.

Algeria is nearly as "moderate" as Tunisia and yet the government is still corrupt.

I agree that it's important, but so are tons of other issues. It just becomes about what you think is more important and I find that really annoying and so pervasive amongst people who care about things.

Things like this happen a lot and in the long run matter little to my day-to-day life.

In my opinion, this is also a byproduct of media saturation. An incessant onslaught of "important news" and over-stimulation completely trivializes everything.
