Does anyone else here have a big Dubstep scene going on in their city?

Every Sunday night this club hosts a dubstep dance party called "crunchy sunday"
all you hear throughout the week is "ARE YOU GETTING CRUNCHY THIS WEEKEND????"
a few of my friends dj there weekly. im not all that into it but i do go occasionally
i like going to more underground raves than a club hosting a rave night

meh, either way. tonight i may get crunchy. i need some drugs

I wish, I'm one of the very few people interested in getting crunchy around here. I live in a small town where everyone's hick and just gets drunk and brawls. That's fun sometimes though :lol:

No not yet, although people are definitely getting into dubstep, so i wouldn't be surprised if people around here start to get crunchy on the weekends.

A bunch of people where I live are into it. It's a college town, so it's to be expected.

They often travel to near-by shows in the city.

:rofl2: Did you ask like 5 people? There are TONS of people who don't only listen to dubstep.

Also, saying dubstep is fail because people who listen to it allegedly only listen to dubstep makes no sense because that says nothing about the music itself, in fact, that could be interpreted as dubstep is so good that nothing else comes even close.

Actually yes, Houston has a fucking raging EDM scene. We've got like 3 or 4 crews here in the city that throw dub events on the regular, along with all the other genres of EDM that run around this city, we've got like 10 or 11 crews. I've seen so many fantastic acts over the years. In fact, I'll be seeing Drop the Lime (again, private party this time for an old school organizer from the 90's,) on the 5th of February.

How about a Bassnectar set way back in '07, in a burned out old grain silo, downtown Houston warehouse district. That was my first rave. :trippinballs:

Good call on the Mimosa, OP.  As far as a dubstep scene goes, my city (Tucson) is utterly dead.  :sad:  But whatevs, I got the Internet so I can listen to as much dubstep as I want with nary a problem.  :smirk:

I live just a short drive from the most happening "bass music" scene in the U.S. And I would not be surprised if it's the biggest in the world right now, even more so than the UK. The SF bay area has a huge dubstep/glitch/bass music scene right now, years ago even before the whole dubstep hype there was already a pretty big bass music scene going on.




There's 5 weekly dubstep/bass music nights at lounges and bars that I know of, as well as a few monthlies....Every weekend there is something going on. And it's not just at clubs and lounges, there's quite a bit of underground parties as well in warehouses, outdoor forest parties and other unexplainable random locations...



In the past year I have seen

I know I'm forgetting a few...And most of those were at underground parties, only 200-400 heads or so, really "intimate" setting...Straight family vibes...There were many other producers that came though the area, but I'm not a big fan of going to the bigger shows in clubs and what not, I mainly dig the underground parties...

Last night Nero, Skrillex, Datsik, and 12th planet were playing a show...But I passed, probably way over crowded and filled with P-tots on far to many drugs...That and I didn't have the $ :smirk:

we have a couple big warehouse parties a month, with three different event organizers.  one of them plays shows with fidget and dubstep... not really my style.  the other organizer hires djs who play more progressive house/tech/trance.  the next organizer is an almost retired hippy who hires the best local (and sometimes non local) talent, in terms of depth of music and staying away from that mainstream superficial crap.

the dubstep scene is too wangster for me.  too many barstars and hot shots on the dance floor... at least in my city.
