Dubstep was more interesting when exclusively British * 1
    #14038630 - 02/27/11 09:01 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

the American neo hippie treethugger movement happened and now it's all cliche shit based around a "wobble"

DUDE USES A TON OF TAPE ECHO LIKE DUB REGGAE PRODUCERS!!

I hadn't made this distinction before, but definitely do appreciate the first song you posted, and listen to similar stuff like that.

However, i largely associate dubstep with "wobble" and do not enjoy that variation on the genre at all.

Completely agree.  It always makes me laugh if I'm playing some dubstep that isn't of the generic overproduced wobble, and my buds can't comprehend that it's dubstep.  Not sure if this song is would actually be labeled dubstep, but a good song nonetheless.

what I would give to attend club DMZ..

the scene over here is mostly about the jammy electronic groups, some are fine by me

but these kids need to know their roots

The dubstep scene over here has kinda gone to shit lately too. Very mainstream now. It's all about Rusko, Bassnectar, etc. Even Borgore... :puke:

That's upsetting to hear. I started out listening to them.  My first show was Caspa and Benga in NYC,  but I started digging deeper, and have found my home with the darker stuff. It's got so much more soul and personality to it, if that makes sense.

you know what's funny?

the worst shit shit in the world... have people complaining about how shit everything's turned out, and how it used to be better... constantly...and about only 5-10 years after it's pioneered.

YES pioneered shit sounds more original... unless it grows into fucking something else. dubstep didn't... it didn't evolve... and it evolved from cruddly dangleberries on th ass of regular old DANCE music.

I like industrial noises and lots of whomp/bass... wobble is really just free filter (like most of the UK dubstep...)

Dubstep/dub is a very fine combination aswell, I like reggae/dub inspired music.

Didn't care for the first one, but the second and third were good. Decent assplay.

BAH... I'LL USE THAT ARGUMENT ALL THE TIME. sorry caps.

but then most people will argue it's from garage and dance from uk.

so i skipped a section of my argument for prove that dubstep mostly ranks among the lower levels of the skill to perform.

Judging by those 3 songs posted,  have to agree with this thread.

Most dupstep i hear sucks, but those weren't bad!

A bit too repetitive/un dynamic/flat for me though.

i think the tempo has more to do with the meditative quality

DMZ fliers even announce "Come meditate on bass weight"

dubstep is like the modern Krautrock

creating atmosphere is a lot harder than the musical performance
