Australia had a similar shooting, and now look at their gun laws. Pitiful. And, apparently, it's for the 'overall good'. :rolleyes:

And look at China. They are one of the largest weapons manufacturers and exporters in the world. Yet, it is illegal for the common Chinese citizen to own or purchase a gun. This is obvious oppression, but feeble-minded citizens go about their daily lives oblivious to their disadvantages.

I carry a .38 snub, the .22s are nice for the lack of recoil (and cheap ammo) but they also lack stopping power. Odds are if you have to pull in an emergency situation you're not going to land a T zone headshot, and that's when you need the attacker to feel a big fat hollow point in the chest.

.22 if you're going to assassinate someone, .38 or > if it's a defensive carry. Just my two cents. If you're concerned about zombies, it's hard to beat a .22LR rifle; it's quiet, ammo is cheap and common at stores, they're accurate, and those little bullets bounce around inside the skull. :thumbup:

Amen, despite what some people say now the second amendment has nothing to do with hunting.  When it was written owning a gun and hunting were everyday parts of life and taken for granted.  The founding fathers wrote a lot about why they placed that right in the bill of rights.  It is there to keep the government from abusing it's power, because an armed public would be able to change the government if it got out of hand.  Sadly, some people get brought up wrong (yes, I said it) and are taught to believe that guns kill people.  People kill people.  Period.  If everyone owned guns there would be less violent crime and less robberies.  That's not an opinion, that is FACT in this country.  Guns are outlawed (even thought that's unconstitutional) in parts of the country and those places have higher crimes rates.  In places where it's common to own guns and common knowledge that your neighbors own guns there is less crime.  You think that Jared guy would have did what he did if he knew everyone there had a gun on their waist?  Maybe.  But he sure as hell wouldn't have hurt so many of those people.

If guns are made illegal then the only people who would have them are criminals and the government (I know that's splitting hairs). 

Study history, if a government takes the people's arms guess what happens next?

black market guns are useless in the long run
usually, you end up just using it once and recirculating it back into the black market. and, if you're not slick enough, too many deaths racked up on one gun will put you in the pen for a long, long time, my friend. unless you know any militia-specific arms dealers, black market guns are dirty, though ridiculously fucking cheap.

i myself am quite the pacifist, but i am all for gun freedom.

making gun ownership illegal, or even putting tight restrictions on it, will only push the arms trade further into the black market.

whoever is of the mind that prohibiting people from having a gun is the right thing to do, hasn't learned the lessons of drug prohibition IMO.

A non-trained army of 300 million people is better than an well-trained about of a couple million. 

You are not free if you can't buy a gun. Why should the government, police, and army have a means to control you like that?  That's what was special about America at the beginning of it's existence, the government trusted the people to have a right to weapons, something that was pretty unheard of in Europe. 

What about the cold war and mutually assured destruction?  That's the idea behind our second amendment. 

The problem is that Americas now are largely apathetic.  They've had it pretty good for so long that they don't believe something like Nazi Germany could happen here.  At this point in history, if the US government tried to take the right to bear arms away from the people it would signal the end of whatever "freedoms" we have left.

I'm not quite sure what my view on firearms is, but I will say that here in the UK they are illegal and I think we have a pretty low gun crime rate (it's always stabbings in the news...). So I do think it works, although I doubt implementing anything now in America would be effective because your country's so vast and they'll just be circulating in vast quantities underground.

because you got all your info about this post from reading a book instead of blankly starring at a television and believing what you hear and regurgitating that on here. Haha.  Calm down son.  I doubt that guns are going anywhere. The south won't have it.  You don't remember all the gun control talk after columbine, red lake, Virginia tech?  Still got our guns.

DeadHearts you're not making any sense, who is this government and what with will they go after the people if you say they also targeting the military (Is that what you actually meant?) And why would the government go after it's people? To what ends? And go after them how? All of them? Some of them?

Telescreens? Is this a new concept we don't know of in the old world, do tell me more.

Nazi Germany was supported by it's people, if they had guns they would have slaughtered Jews with them. And the people may outnumber the military, but in a sort of revolt, or attack or whatever you guys seem to be afraid of a few ballistic missiles on a couple of cities would shut everybody up quite fast I imagine. BTW this makes no fucking sense, are we talking about the government, like the people in suits coming after you? Or the army? Or the police?

Wow, just wow.  Are you serious?  The people had no guns and would be killed if they didn't fall in line.  The Nazi party went to great effort to accomplish this.  Sure there was some racism on both sides but if you think the german people would be killing jews for the fuck of it you must not know much about how Hitler came to power.
