This is the reason I deleted my account last spring. When I rejoined like 6 months later I deleted most of the people on my list. I kept my real friends, people I like but don't really talk to and people that I kind of have to be friends with (extended family or co-workers).....and facebook changed. I actually enjoy it now because all the status's I see are by people I like, and I like them for what they say and whatnot, so I like all the status's. It's really nice. I ended up giving it an 8.

Everyone who complains about people on facebook are fools, because you choose what you see by who you're friends with.

I just got rid of half of my news feeds,problem solved. There is still a fair chunk of thrash though.

Totally agree it's a double-edged sword.

There's annoying people who spam your Wall...
Or people who announce, "I am going to pee."... "I do that many times throughout the day and feel no need to update my friends about it."...
Or all the other stupid shit like..."I praied and it came true. He is real!"... with a bunch of retards replying "Hallelujah!" "Amen!" "Preach it sister!"

But it keeps me up to date about things I'd normally lose track of (mainly bands, concerts...).
And it is an easy way to keep in touch with old friends.

Now I'm thinking I shoulda bumped it up 2.
But I didn't.

That's what I use mine for too.  Friends and family.  I enjoy being able to communicate daily with people I care about but dont get to see very often and seeing pictures and such.  Plus its a great way to share articles and videos with your friends.

There is no one on my facebook "friends" list that I have not met in person, except for a couple of shroomerites that have become friends over long distance.  Therefor, I don't consider anything I see on facebook "crap".  I voted 8.

If you use it like that, it is great. I think I have 1 person as a friend I don't know in real life. Maybe 2 friends I have only met a few times but they are great peeps or close friends/family of close friends. Then I have maybe a relative or two I never met, or someone I only met a few times.

Turn of the apps and you are golden.

I had a myspace thing a couple of times and deleted it a couple of times. Finally did the facebook thing and I said I am not adding people that i would not want to kick back with and have a beer or feel uncomfortable with them staying over on the couch or while I am gone.

Fuck Facebook, had one for a week and hated putting up photos and searching for ppl, I found myself glued to the screen for hours, screw that, I honestly hate cell phones as well, call my fucking house if you want to reach me bitch!

Its only good for keeping in contact with family for me. Went through that discovery phase & all, but after a year, got tired of the drama queens & kats with sand in their vaginas. Some folk do have fun with it though, however, I'm not one of them.:shrug:

I think anybody who would comment, on a message board, negatively about the idea of a moderated internet community is missing the point rather spectacularly.

And to those of you who seem to think mushrooms are cooler than friends in real life: about half of my 200 friends are fellow psychedelics aficionados.

I don't see a good reason for hating facebook other than social ineptitude, Luddism, or carefully manufactured ennui.

See, now MySpace is a piece of shit, but for totally different reasons.
