HB for mod...

I'm just here to speak my case.

Now, I don't know what most the mods or admins think, but I can tell you that most of the users stand behind this sort of thing happening.

HB is probably one of the most, if not THEE most influential poster on the boards since PGF. People look up to him. Lots of people like him. He's an overall nice guy with many good aspects and enjoyable qualities.

I think it would be a big step in improving OTD as a whole is to have its most popular/influential users as a mod. Not to take anything away from any of the other OTD mods, but HB can really pull some weight.

I dunno, what do you guys think?

I personally would LIKE to be mod ... but apparently there are just as many of you who don't like me as there are of those who do ...

For those who support me I appreciate it, as I personally believe that I would make a good mod (not in a narcissistic way) ...

For those who don't, that's fine, too ...

this made me curious about a few things:

1.) what are the criterion and qualities a person must have to be a mod or admin?

2.) what is the process of deciding whether or not to accept a new mod or admin?

If I were elected as moderator, I would bring you, the people, off-campus lunches, shortened detentions ... eck wrong speech ...

I think I could make OTD a much friendlier environment, as I seem to always maintain a very neutral and open mindset about everything ... if I were mod I'd clean up my act a bit, in the sense that I would post a lot less of the inane quality so as to set more of an example ... I only post the way I do now because I don't feel I have an image to maintain ... but if I were representing the shroomery as a mod, I'd certainly do my best to make sure I, and the shroomery, are taken very seriously ...

I wish that an admin or somebody could actually PM me regarding this, or at least post in this thread about ME, not about the criterion liquidsmoke used to say that I should be a mod ... it's quite discouraging to see anno saying:

all that tells me is that, bottom line, as much as anybody else may want it, the admins certainly do not like me, and even more than that, they don't want me to be a mod

there's not much else I can say unless somebody with authority speaks on the issue seriously

in complete honesty, if 3D or Anno or whomever don't want me to be mod, I'd certainly appreciate if they would PM me or post here saying "we don't want you to be mod" so that I at least know i have no hopes for it and thus no longer care to be one. i won't hold any grudges and I won't even question it, but at least I'll know ...

As we discussed on AIM the other night, there are a lot of changes transpiring dealing with the administration and the board makeup at this time.  As a result, we are not accepting new moderators right now, and will give your request consideration in early to mid April. 

Until then, keep up the Q&A - it's nice to see a little debate goin' on :grin:

When it comes to OTD< I think HB could really mobilize users in the right direction. Like I said before, alot of users look up to him, like I used to as a newb.

I mean, I can't really think of any major significant reasons NOT to make HB a mod.

My take on this.... You should be displaying that BEFORE becoming a mod. Showing that if we did elect you as a mod that you would indeed be capable of what we would expect of you. Not that we would cross our fingers and hope that you would be able to behave in a way that is expected.

I do have concerns about whether or not you would be able to uphold all rules in OTD regardless if you agree with them or disagree with them. We all are required to enforce rules that we don't necessarily agree with. This does equate with what I said before. If you were already displaying "mod like behavior" then I might feel differently.

Please don't take this for anything other then it is. It is simply a concern and has nothing to do with what I think of you as a member of this board or anything of the like. To sum it all up....

If you are already acting like a mod should act then you are more likely to become a mod. Not, Do we think you might be able to do it if you had to. You should already be displaying these qualities.

Make sense?

This is my personal opinion and does not represent the other mods or admins opinions.

Ok, about you: I think you might have potential, young Grass Hopper, but as Geo said, this is not the best of times. Also, like Geo said, this discussion is a good thing, so keep it up. We are all sitting up on Mt. Olympus, eating grapes, and watching. This thread could use a Greek chorus though... :grin:
