DSi XL or 3DS
    #13616062 -

Looking to get a Nintendo Handheld.

The XL is great, my problem with handhelds was always the tiny screen. But they kinda killed it when they announced a 3D system immediately after its release. By now more pictures and demos are starting to surface and its looking cool. The 3DS main screen is supposed to be bigger than standard DS at 3.5 inches, but the XL is still 4.2 inches (both screens).

I could get an XL, be happy with the huge screens, and see what they do later with 3DS revisions (possibly bigger screens). Or wait and get a 3DS in March, be happy with the slightly bigger screen, and be able to play the cool 3D launch titles.

If you got the patience, I'd wait for the 3DS, but if you got the money and aren't patient, I'd get the XL. However the camera is useless.

Thought about PSP? They're making a new one. Supposedly, it's going to be with touch-controls (oh god..). But you can always get the PSP we have now, hack it and play GB, GBA, NES, SNES, Genisis, PS1 and PSP games on it. Though don't expect to play for a long period of time. If you got long fingers or big hands, the PSP might be slightly uncomfortable. Also my neck hurts like a bitch after an hour or two of gaming.

I think both systems will handle emus pretty much the same, before PS1. In considering which one had games I might actually play (emus aside) I settled on Nintendo.

PS1 emu + PSone classics synced from my PS3 is kinda cool. But games like RPGs and other long ones, I'd rather stick to a big screen. And for the rest that aren't on the PSN, I can run from a PC.

But touch control does sound pretty dope.

Another thing to consider, is how fast they'll actually "jailbreak" the 3DS. I read it might not have a fat cartridge slot, which I think is what they've been using for loading up homebrew apps. But I dont really know, I've haven't owned a DS, or any Nintendo handheld in years.  :undecided:
