i got a scary message on my computer

i tried getting online and a window popped up saying my internet provider locked me out for downloading illegal material. it was also saying that some organization of the united states or some shit will sue me if i dont delete the shit off my computer.

anyone know anything about this? i called me provider and im waiting for a call back, but im thinking it might be a virus.

thats what i was thinking, but it did say it came from a timewarner management site.

if it helps, ive been downloading movies form TPB and demonoid lately and im in texas. not sure if this has anything to do with it. last time i checked torrents were legal... i think.

can you screenshot the pop-up? I mean if it's some sort of return message from your browser generated as an error log... it could be legit. I've never heard of any browser doing that though.

Also a way it could be legit is if you're getting redirected by your ISP to a "blocked" content type page.

No. Torrents are legal. Downloading copyrighted material is not.

If you can't screenshot it, can you describe it a little better?

What i meant when I said "All kinds of illegal" is that it would illegal for anyone to be running taps on your hard drive to determine if you've deleted the material or not.

It sounds pretty bogus because why would they tell you to delete it if they had any intention of prosecuting you? If you're on a mac, you can delete that shit and zero out the empty space a few million times.

For any sort of hard drive forensics that's the equivalent of ammonia on the samples.

ISP's are notorious faggots. I wouldn't be surprised if it was legit.
The part about deleting it seems bs though. Is it asking you if you want it to delete the files? or offering any serves like that?

I had one of these pop up when I used to reboot. It was in a grey box said all the same bs your mentioning. Nothing ever came of it so I'd say its bs.

It used to show up upon restarting, had nothing to do with the browser. Was probably added on by something you downloaded.

If you find out it isn't legit you certainly shouldn't leave it unchecked... if it's not legit it's almost certainly collecting your personal information (spyware)

okay, so this message is LEGIT. i just got a call back from time warner. they recived a message from MPAA saying they tracked a movie that was downloaded, Shaune Of The Dead. TW said i need to delete that movie, and "stay off of MPAA's radar". :lol:

nothing serious, but just a warning for everyone, STAY OFF THE RADAR!!!

anyone know how to dl this shit annon?
