Eh not really. Prices haven't budged much. I can still buy pretty much the same amount of groceries I could buy for $5 as I did when this thread was created 3 years ago.

Unless you were being sarcastic.

And good luck getting him to see it. He hasn't logged on in almost 2 months.

Same thing happened to me when I played Neil Armstrong in Moonshot. They found me in an alley in Burbank trying to re-enter the earth's atmosphere in an old refrigerator box.

Gasoline is a completely different entity than anything in the United States and it's price is dictated by Opec and the American Oil Companies and do not reflect the strength of the American dollar but more the maximum profit potential weighted against reserves of product. That's why Oil rich countries get away with so much shit is because they dictate the price for the world economy.

And going to my local store... well chicken sandwiches, two tacos, jr.  and bacon cheeseburgers are still $1 at Jack in the Box and at the store Soda Pop is still $1 and Bread is still 1.29

I completely agree that the American economy is fucked but inflation hasn't hit yet and probably won't hit until the next administration completely panics and the world economy realizes that the dollar has been completely over-stretched. However, that's still a few years away. Also realistically inflation is a natural and I won't say healthy but I'll say normal part of economics, the only time it should be feared is when it's out of control or when the standard of living cannot keep up with it.

Fast food isn't real food. If you think you can survive off that get ready to die of congestive heart failure. For the reast of us that eat real food (and BTW th .99 bread is essentially a lie -carbs with empy calories and no nutrients) it's getting more expensive. In order to get healthy whole wheat bread you're paying 2$ a loaf.

Pop isn't food either. stuff like Milk, and Orange Juice are going up. All the fresh fruits and veg seem to be going up.

Yes, but the quality of those groceries has declined noticably. You gotta spend a few more dollars if you want the "primo shit" that used to be standard.

i've noticed the price increase in a lot of drinks over the past few years. things like gatorade used to be a dollar for the big bottle at a gas station. now it's usually $2, but i just saw them for 2.25 at BP the other day. decided not to buy it and just walked out...

you can still get by with $5 but on the whole prices are definitely increasing.

No kidding... stop buying pre-prepared shit. Buy the raw ingredients alone and go from there - you'll save a fortune.

no kidding, it's like $7 just to go to bk now. and to go to subway and get a footlong and soup it's like $11.50 now, ridiculous. inflation before minimum wage rises high enough to meet it.

next year we get considered to see if minimum wage goes up to $9 an hour right? hopefully it at least goes up to $8.50

Then your BK and subway will be even more expensive.

But easy solution: prepare your own food.

Nope, I eat a healthy amount.  (which is probably less than nearly every other american out there)

And, of course, I do spend more than $5 a day because Im a rich american.  Ill get some pizza, drink beer, go to a restaurant - all that stuff.  But when I cook at home and tally up the costs of meals, they are very low.  If I had any kind of real economic hardship, I could eat healthily for $5 a day.

what would you eat for $5 a day? brown rice and a few vegetables?

i could see stretching it like that, but even basic stuff like chicken is like $3 a pound for cheap cuts, peppers are like 1$ each, etc. idk how you could make a decent meal, let alone 3 meals, for that much..

i spend at least $10 per day just cooking for myself, and i don't buy anything brand-name.

oatmeal, 2 scrambled eggs, bacon, orange juice

1/4 lbs turkey, piece of cheese, 2 piece bread, lettuce, tomato, bacon, water

1/4 lb chicken, rice, veggies, milk or water.

should be less than 5$ a day if you shop smart.

the banking industry is the opec of housing, our real estate market still hasn't fallen to anything remotely what it's worth. They'll have to tear down houses until prices are close enough to justify, or inflation will do it for us. I agree though, inflation is gonna get us from the south. All the immigrants have to be loaded by now after getting 10x their money sending it home and investing all these years. Who wants to buy Detroit?

or an ape. I was easily within the $5/day range only eating fresh fruit and greens. Now that I'm back to eating grains and animal products again that range has nearly tripled i would say.
