I'm actually going to see Vaski this weekend at an underground in SF, with 360 surround sound around the dance area...8 points of bass, and visual screens surrounding the dance area...It's total sensory overload, even sober, throw LSD into the mix and :omgz: .

I think perhaps this has more to do with the people where you live than the genre of music..


Around here it's nothing but hippies and burners, with a few hipsters thrown into the mix.

I honestly don't know much about production so i may be wrong on this...But (good) dubstep seems a bit more complex than most of the DnB stuff i hear, sure DnB has a faster tempo but seems very simplistic IMO :shrug: ....


I'm not hating on DnB, i actually do enjoy me some DnB, but to my ears it does seem simplistic...just really fast

Most dubstep shows around here are not at raves, they're completely different events. The crowd associated with dubstep is a bit different than what you see at raves...No candy, no glowing shit or bright colors, and typically the people are a bit older and matured when compared with rave kids.

yeah i mean dubstep uses alot of neat, modern, production techniques.  Its not dubstep's fault DnB lost its soul.

and after listening to drum and bass you really going to get into breaks?  come on, not happenin.

Here in ny the crowd pretty much sucks for dubstep shows, but the people get very into it. 

Honestly i never felt so much joy at a show as when a wicked dark squelch wobble drops and everyone just starts spazzing out with like these angry screw faces.

It has the feel of like the best moments of a dark techstep track x4

i went to a show this weekend and they dropped a remix of this track and the place just went insane:

Back at the height of the house days breakz/dnb were fresh & new, now they have become so much a part of our aural landscape it has become a bit boring I guess.

also amon tobin on the decks doesn't count.  Not too many djs can mix like that.  DnB tracks can't stand on their own.

hey yall ... just wanted to apologize for some of the remarks i made the other day ... think my then current mood played into that ...

i dont like making generalizations about people or things , as i would not like it done to me and for the most part live by that particular doctrine ...

the party scene as a whole has become quite disappointing to me ... from early/mid to late 90s dnb scene was my life and my bread and butter ... i did 8 years in a max pen and got out to a totally alien scene where dnb was a major minority ...

nowadays i cant hit a dnb party much less spin at one more than a couple times a year ... POTD is like xmas for me hahaha pretty much all i get annually ... kinda sux ... that said i will have to attest against a post from someone above that the oldest crowd truly is to be found at a potd type party where the old dnb heads 25 to 35 get some babysitters and have their one night of fun a year hahaha 10 more years we're gonna need wheelchair ramps ! haha

anyway , i dont like dub-step :mad: gives me a headache and takes floor time from my joie de vive musical preference ... ive been out to the pnw and ncali scene and love it ppl wise in comparison to the crowd here on the east coast (thats my roots so no way badmouthing the whole) honestly i think im just old and cranky and perhaps just feeling a bit of unwarranted entitlement and youth directed spite towards the current play-lists lol !

dubstep can get old for me if i over play it but sometimes a new song will come along and I will explode in to the wobble bass headspace
