Why I listen to IDM/breakcore

because we're creating astral machines up in this bitch.


This is the stuff i see when i listen to music like this.  Notice in the description the creator based this on an lsd trip.

In my trips it felt like the artists were channeling non-physical intelligences to create the music.  The music then makes the machines which allow you to communicate with the non-physical intelligences.  Then they give you useless wisdom.

edit: sometimes the creators are just expressing messages that can't be expressed otherwise.  The complexity is still about the same though.

Not quite down with this, but Sweet Trip is awesome. I find that there's no melody in this. Prefuse 73 is similar but brings a lot of emotion into music that at times feels completely mechanic.

yeah i actually don't like autechre so much, alot of times seems like he's just exploring technique without content.  Video is too sweet though.

that kind of music is awesome as hell when i'm tripping. that song came on once while i was on mushrooms and it was just the coolest damn thing ever. listening to it now, it's not as great as i remembered it being :shrug:

other songs, on the other hand...

Fuck yeah!

People that dont see the complex brilliance behind this stuff are missing out. Whats cool is alot of breakcore almost requires a totally different way of listening to it in order to appreciate it fully. Its hard to explain but i think the timing of the beats plays a big role, like if i adjust to how fast and chaotic some of this stuff is, the vivid complexity of the psychedelic expanses starts to really come out. One step closer to the natural chaos of the universe, out of which a fractal-like infinity of order subsystems emerge. Some Venetian Stares tracks come to mind in particular.
