wtf is up with my popcorn
    #13051112 -

ok so i have about 10 half full quart jars of popcorn. all of them are now fully colonized but i had to toss 1 due to green mold. but i already made a post about a couple of them having a really light pink tint to some parts of the mycelium..which i still am not sure of what it is, but it looks like its just colored mycelium, not even anything growing on it, and it hasnt grown any in the past week and a half that i noticed it.

but i know what brf cakes smell like, but when i opened the popcorn jars, it had a funny smell, like a slight sourness but nothing major at all, is it maybe what popcorn just smells like after sitting in a humid jar for 2 weeks? oh yeah and even the pop corn jars that dont have any pink coloring or any weird colors they smell kinda like that. sorry for the long post, thanks for any help.

i just recently experimented with popcorn i cased a small 1/2 pint in coco coir/verm, when i birthed and crumbled it did have a sort of funny smell but not foul, the pink spots might just be where the mycelium is colonizing the popcorn, does it have a sort of reddish/pinkish tint? pics would also be more helpful.

That's what I was thinking when I read his post too. I also noticed when I did popcorn jars they had a weird smell too, no problems came of it.

I have done popcorn but could never inoculate it with spores, could only grow on it with LC.  Also, I had to simmer it longer because it took longer to saturate the popcorn than rye berries.
