i'm pretty sure i'm a hypocondriac

I was lying on my couch about to dose off when the left side of my chest started hurting...it was a mild pain. After that though the pain sort of crept into my shoulder and a numbing sort of pain slowly crept down my arm almost all the way to my elbow. I was thinking WHAT THE FUCK!? I thought maybe i had a heart attack or something, since i've heard that it's a pain that spreads through your arm. Then i thought to myself...."I'm fucking 20....I'm not obese...and i don't eat cheeseburgers all day, so why the hell would i have a heart attack"? But then i remembered reading about this guy from around here that died of a heart attack and he was in my class in high school. So i kinda got a little scared...then i rememberd i've always been a hypocondriac, but decided to drink more beer just to be safe(cuz ya know a few beers a day can help prevent heart disease)....hmm it was a strange occurance though...so i wonder..am i just paranoid? or am i dying!? did i mention i'm a hypocondriac.

Why is it that so many people have such difficulty with this? GO SEE A FUCKING DOCTOR...NOW!

You *may* be a hypochondriac (I believe that's hyper, but it's way too late, and I'm going to bed soon), but you certainly aren't over-reacting. It could be one of many bad things, or one of many trivial things. You won't know from asking people over the internet...

Edit: To be honest though, it probably is nothing.

what exactly is a hypocondriac or whatever?

Is that person who is always worried with their health and all that?  It's not often...but sometimes I have my days...where I honestly think I'm one of those.

"my fingers are hurting a bit"..."oh no...I might be getting arthiritis, or carpal tunnel syndrome.  I play guitar all the time...oh god that would suck if I did". lol

or I'll get numbness or mild pains like you are describing, and think that something may be up with my heart.

lol but I don't get those days very often.  It's only when I'm really really bored, and I guess I have nothing else to think about.  So when I feel something(a pain, a sensation, etc) in my body...I associate it with a potential disease, disability, etc.


If it really bothers you, go to the doctor and get it checked.  If he says nothing is wrong...you can stop worrying :wink:

It sounds like gas from drinking carbonated beverages and lying down. Sometimes carbonation can get under the chest and cause pain much like a heart attack. You might have gerd., hope everything is better, if not see a doctor.

I know how you feel. Avoid pot while under such conditions, it makes it a lot worse.

I would recomend finding something to occupy your thoughts.
