Old Girlfriend Dreams

I dream about my old girlfriend all the time. I've been seriously dating a girl for over a year now after being good friends w/ her prior to our current relationship. During my waking hours I never think about my old girlfriend, but atleast 1 time a week and sometimes even 3 to 4 times I wake up after dreaming about her. Of course for the first hour of my day I think about her cuz I just had a dream about her, but then the thought fades until it happens next time.

Last night I had a vivid dream about something else, but at the end of my dream I was jogging home and we jogged past eachother. She was w/ a friend and avoided looking at me. I of course turned my neck and looked at her as long as possible until she faded by.

This is ridiculous, isn't it? We broke up 2 years ago and haven't spoken since.

I believe dreams like that have something to do with your subconscious compensating for your couscous minds lack of thought about your ex, or at least that's what I remember reading in 'The Interpretation of Dreams', by Sigmund Freud.

I think my dreams are just behind by a few years or so. I still dream about being in college occationally (been out for almost 2 years now) and I'm only now starting to dream about my wife (we've been together 3 years or so).

I think your dreams are right on time, if you think about it. You don't dream about things that occupy a large part of your conscious thought.

I had a dream about somebody, somebody I deeply regret to this day not taking several opportunities with.  The next day I was quite mentally unhappy.  Just thinking about those times.  She has a long-term boyfriend now and I try to stay away from her because I still like her alot.

I don't know whether that could signify anything other than the fact I still have "issues" about the whole thing.. though I don't need a dream to tell me that :smile:  - unfortunately I definitely don't need a dream rehashing those feelings either.
