RAM compatibility?
    #12933443 -

I want to put some more ram into the computer, but Im not completely sure whats compatible and whats not. Would I be ok to buy DDR2 or DDR3? What about the pin count? Just line them up and see if they match up or what? I would like to buy something cheap from a craigslist kinda thing but to make sure I get something thats going to work for my computer. Heres some specs for my motherboard:

Architecture
200- and 266-megahertz (MHz) double-data rate (DDR) synchronous dynamic random-access memory (SDRAM)

Dual in-line memory module (DIMM) sockets
two non-error checking and correction (non-ECC)

DIMM capacities
128, 256, 512 MB, and 1 GB

Minimum random-access memory (RAM)
128 MB

Maximum RAM
2 GB

Basic input/output system (BIOS) address
F0000h

No, I dont think you can fit DDR2 or DDR3 into that.  All of these formats are mutually exclusive.

they have the same pin count but if  notice how the sockets for the ram are slotted so the ram only fits in one way, the ddr2 and ddr3 ram have notches in different places so that they only fit sockets designed respectively for them...suspect this serves to prevent you from damaging your hardware..

Everything is better than it was the last time.  I'm good.

If we could look into each others hearts, and understand the unique challenges each of us faces, I think we would treat each other much more gently, with more love, patience, tolerance, and care.

It takes a lot of courage to go out there and radiate your essence.

I know you scared, you should ask us if we scared too.  If you was there, and we just knew you cared too.

You need PC2100 DDR memory, no larger than 1GB per stick.  You cannot use DDR2 or DDR3.
