Gotu Kola
    #12906028 -

Hi, I once had a small Gotu Kola plant and I let it spread like ground cover. It has survived frosts and remains a pride of my garden. Here's some pics.

According to Hindus Gotu Kola is considered the most 'sattvic' or 'light containing' herb on the planet!

Very cool. How do you utilize the plant? I hear you can eat the raw leaves or make a drink from them, but I've never had the plant around. I'll definitely be adding these guys to my want list.

Oh, what are the odds of getting some seeds of this sent to the seed bank? I'm sure some others would enjoy that very much.

Yeah, I like this plant to. The roots, leaves or stems of the plant can be eaten raw or brewed into a tea.  It also has several culinary uses such as in Sri Lankan cuisine.  I remember looking at a study that indicated that it increases micro-circulation in the brain.  There are numerous claims as to it usefulness.  I find lower doses to be mildly mentally stimulating and larger doses to be somewhat relaxing.  Surprisingly I once found a live plant at the local big box home improvement store.  Never tried growing from seed but it is easily propagated vegetatively, as it spreads by runners. It grows fairly easily but does seem rather picky about the soil type its in.  In my experience it seems to like very sandy type soils.
