Plants for dmt extraction in West Virginia
    #12846852 -

Looking for any information on plants for dmt extraction in WV.

Here are the 3 plants I think I've seen around but am not certain if it's actually them:

1. Phalaris aquatica
2. Phalaris arundinacea
3. Desmanthus Illinoensis

My suspicions of them possibly not being the right plant revolves around research saying for example, Desmanthus only existing in "central and south US" and Phalaris aquatica existing only as close as Virginia (based on a document posted in 1990, which leads me to believe it may have spread to my state by now)

If anyone could point me in the right direction of finding a plant that could be picked locally for extraction that would be more than I could ask for, any information will help.

Thank you.

Hey man Im from WV too! What part are you in? And you could maybe find phalaris aquatica, but your best bet is buying some MHRB and growing some desmanthus lebtolubus from seeds en masse. The phalaris contain neuro toxic gramine.

I'm in southern WV, you? Yeah I know my best bet is to buy MHRB but I don't want to go through the hassle of ordering it and would much rather find a plant and try it that way.

I know about the phalaris containing gramine but I've heard a few things about it:

1. It shouldn't be toxic in small doses
2. If you smoke it the DMT vaporizes before the gramine does, so just don't get it too hot.
3. It may be possible to separate it from the other alkaloids.

I was leaning towards trying to find phalaris aquatica, just wasn't sure if it was around (like I said I think I've seen it around but can't recall where). May search some marshy areas soon.

You're barking up the wrong tree in a number of ways.

A)  We don't poach wild plants.  (yes, snatching up handfulls of wild grass to smoke is poaching.)

B)  Even if you don't really care about poaching and forum rules,
I'd say...  95% chance they're not phalaris

C)  It's not just against garden policy.  It's against our life philosophy.  For instance ....we don't buy dimebags in the garden.  We plant a seed, and we harvest the entire plant for free.

Give up the scavenger hunt,  drop $5 on some seeds,  and join the ethnogarden. You'll never be wanton again.

Clipping leaves doesn't destroy the plant. I'm also pretty sure it is phalaris. I came here trying to obtain knowledge about my area and be sure it's phalaris and to find other potential local plants.

Thanks anyway.

wtf, he never said he was going to go poach wild plants. Its one thing to warn him against it, its another to accuse him. :oldman2: Maby his uncle has a farm.
Strange attitude hereabouts.
Anyway..
D. illinoensis is most easily identified by its distinctive mature seed pods in the fall, a handy situation since at that point its stored up lots of goodies in the roots for winter and the mature seed can be thrown to the wind to produce more plants the next year or brought home and saved for tossing about in early spring. The species is native to every state that borders WV and to the northwest border of WV, it's not listed as a WV native because botanists havent found it there yet, could easily be growing there.
