I disagree. If it wasn't the Dead some other band probably would have filled the same shoes. it's not like they made particularly good music anyway

I would whole heartedly disagree with that statement.  Like it takes a "complex mind" to listen to and enjoy the dead :rolleyes: I have met some dumb ass dead heads and some dumb ass pink floyd fan boys.  The complexity of ones mind has nothing to do with it and because you made such a statement I would have to conclude that your mind is not "complex"

when I first dropped acid I didn't know anybody who listened to the grateful dead, and I had never listened to them even one time. but I was definitely into pink floyd around the time I started taking psychedelics

I think it is safe to say that if Jerry was never born then you would have never been born.

If jerry was never born Jesus Christ would have never been born.  So we have Jerry to thank for all this religious bullshit going on. It's safe to say.

I am just joking around anyways to a degree.  I can appreciate jerry garcia but in no way am I a "fan".  I just dislike when people put him on a pedestal like he is the best thing since _____.

This vs that arguments are just stupid.  Music is subjective.  Both contributed in many different ways.  We should just all recognize that the music they made was awesome.

I suppose you cannot take any context from text if you think I took it personally.  I don't like Pink Floyd better than the Dead if that is what you are implying.  I was just trying to show you how stupid that claim about simple minded people being correlated to liking pink floyd was.

I liked Jerry's unique style of playing, there's just nothing in this world that can compare in my opinion. Gilmore was good, very good but I like Jerry's style sooo much more, he had a way of dancing with the music on his fretboard plus he was the most improvisational guitarist to ever live.

Jerry is my biggest inspiration, I hope that someday I can be at least half as good as he was.
