Do you have any good reasons why it's a beast? To me, it's just another step after phones, email, instant messaging. People like to be closely knitted to other people, even it is through technology. The idea of it doesn't bother me because, it's the happening.

I'm curious on what comes after twitter.

And I see nothing wrong with facebook. As others said, it's a tool. If it ruins your life, it's your fault, not facebook's.

I don't see how it ruins anyones life. It's nice for keeping friends you don't talk to on a regular basis in the now about parties and what not.

i was just stamping that whole thing as false under the pretense that i never claimed that the internet was alive. But having said that i believe that our collective activity creates the entity that we call the internet, so i suppose that living vicariously through the net gives it its "life"

My facebook profile pic is the same picture I'm using as my avatar here on the Shroomery. And oddly enough, just today I got a random friend request from another shroomerite who recognized the avatar. He saw my picture in a comment about a music festival. It's a small world...

That's what makes it an American-English Idiom and/or idiomatic expression. It doesn't mean what it says. Idiomatic expressions are non-standard speech that are simply natural to native speakers of the language. Meaning, to an outsider, it doesn't make sense.



yyeah but think about how that expression came into existence. some moron didn't realize what another moron was actually saying.
