I heard from a friend that the story was on the local television news in Arizona. I know he was from there and it has created a buzz in the news.

I do not think they mentioned the shroomery site, just an "online community" and there was mention of people egging him on. But thats no excuse I suppose....

Just passing the information.

Yeah...Ripper is all over the news here in Phx. I know who egged him on and I also know who wanted to call for help but didn't. It makes me sick and I hope those people get what's coming to them. (whether that be by law or in the eyes of the Lord) I also hope they think about his death every day and his family and closest friends like myself, who are so hurt and dissapointed in human nature right now, because of what you did.

don't BLAME anyone. I knew ripper well ... for 4 years now. he said some real stupid things and it was hard to believe anything he said, it was also incredibly hard to change his mind when he set out to do something. no one in the chat was responsible, ripper was a big boy, he knew very well what he was doing. no one meant ANY harm, as a close community we all would joke around but at no time did ANY ever mean for ripper to die. when i heard about this last night, i just broke into tears. Ripper was an amazing person, he constantly helped me out with computer stuff and was just great to talk to.

instead of putting blame on other people... let's just keep ripper in our memories. im pretty sure, behind his tough act, he would have wanted it that way.

oh and does rippers family REALLY think that by suing some kid who was just chatting and meant no harm, do they think that will change anything? will money to ripper's family bring him back? no... it won't. it's hard to place blame on the one you love, but sometimes you HAVE TO. You cannot go through life throwing the blame on someone you don't care about... that doesn't work.

They have to be cut some slack.

The family just lost someone and the only thing they have that helps them answer "why?" are the logs.

The logs are disgusting.

Here's what you probably don't understand.

It is not as though people who frequent that chatroom are there to stop people from OD'ing. They are not a help line and they don't act like one most of the time.

So, when someone comes in and says that they are going to lethally dose, people don't necessarily take it seriously. The general theme of the chatroom is usually light-hearted.

I would argue the following.

ripper was going to take that dose regardless of what anyone said.

At the time when he started dosing, people really didn't know what to do. Remember, these are not trained councelers, psychologists. They are just people with common interests, not trained personell.

By the time things had gotten out of hand, there was very little anyone could do. An attempt to call the cops was made, but there was too little available information to get anyone to his location. Again, had these people been trained to deal with this type of thing, it would be a different case.

Pnutbot is not a real person. He's a computer program designed to reply to certain key words with certain responses.

Smoke2k is not all that bright, but he is not to blame for ripper's death. It would be like blaming a bystander for nto saving the life of a guy who was shot in the chest walking in front of him in that he wasn't trained to deal with that sort of thing.

i completely agree and have defended that poitn before..


but you still haven't answered my question, you said he had already taken a lethal dose of pills before turning on the cam and taking more. How is it known that he already took a lethal dose before even taking more?
