I saw converge when i was living in germany and it was a pretty crazy time. They were playing with this band, modern life is war. We ended up talking to thats bads singer and my drunk ass friend kept asking him questions questions about ham and the dude kept giving back serious answers. it was pretty weird and funny at the same time...but hes another story.

We kept telling him we came out from the US just to see them and they said it while they were up on the stage. Germans burned us with cigs cuz we started pitting. We got up to the front of the stage and the converge guitarist kept stomping on my other friends hand. After all that we went outside and that same friend ripped some dudes shoes off his feet and threw em over the fence. In the end though, even the germans started pitting and it got pretty damn rough!

Theres a video floating around out there where a fight breaks out
on stage at a show of theirs. The guitarist smashes his ae over some
doods head. Sick.

Must have been cool seeing them in Germany tho

most of you will probably not give this band a chance bc its not deathy enough lol

but the depth of these guys lyrics are some of the best ive heard

Through ravines twisting through the bosom of earth
Among fallen rock marking the place of her birth
As we descend to the gut of this realm
Tenuous path trekked with centaur at helm

Round the river that boils with hate and spews blood down its fiery banks
He does perch with an arrow and bow to ensure his shades do not go
For their depth within this hell connects to the sins for which they fell
Tyrannical reign upon mother earth infinitely punished for morality dearth

Tyrannical reign condemned
For the sins of the state you shall mend
With eternity spent in boiling blood
Submerged beneath the muck and the mud
Drown in the river in which you are held
The penalty of the tyrant in anguish you dwell
Unspeakable evil on earth you commit
At the mercy of demons you forever sit

Attila, Dionysus, Alexander the great
Flounder in the depths of the river of hell
The crag of the walls begin to quake
As the rocks fall all you can hear a knell
The bell that seals the fate of these souls
Judgment deciding for whom the bell tolls

Protest The Hero isnt even close to matching the lyrical genius of the human abstract

i dont listen to metal for the music genre

the most powerful way to get your point across is with creative lyrics and creative instruments..

great bands blend these together

Its not as much per se metal, but Circle Takes the Square is my favorite lyrically
some call it pretentious
but to me it's incredible....

(Quiet)
Light as a feather, stiff as a board

Ignorance is bliss
No wise woman's failed to mention
And surely some koan
Suggests neglect leads to perfection
But the more I turn my face from the crowd
The more I feel my backs' increasingly compelled
For the sake of escape
To turn a knife on itself
A knife of relief from all the petty insight
And finally I'll sleep
I'll sleep through the night

BORED AS FUCK WITH THIS STREET CORNER-COVER
STUDY OF A FACE IN A FIGURE
SURVEYING THIS LANGUAGE AS A GAME
SURVEILLANCE OF THIS LANGUAGE
(AS THE PLAGUE (2x))
THE DIMENSION OF PERSISTENCE CONDEMNS
(WE’RE PLAGUED (2x))
THE DIMENSION OF PERSISTENCE CONDEMNS
IT’S THE PLAGUE
(THIS LANGUAGE (4x))
THE DIMENSION OF PERSISTENCE CONDEMNS

THIS PORTRAIT OF KARMA
CRAFTED IN ACCIDENT
TEXT BOOK SEDUCTION
MINUS THE TEXT IN THE LANGUAGE OF GHOSTS

AND SO WE RAN, LIKE THE WOLVES WERE BITING
THE INHIBITIONS OF THEIR PREY
KEPT THEM FROM SCREAMING
SCRATCH MY BACK AND
I WILL STAB YOU IN YOURS
SO I CHOSE TO LIVE THIS LIFE ALONE
WITHOUT THE TEETH MARKS
BUT I PREDICT
I'LL HAVE TO SINK MY FANGS
IN SOMEONE ELSE'S HEART TO HEAL MY OWN
JUST A VICTIM'S SPLIT
ONE PART FOR THE WOLVES
ONE PART FOR YOU.
BUT I'LL GROW WEARY SOON
WEARY OF THIS FRACTAL CODE
WEARY OF THIS HALLWAY LINED WITH GHOSTS

JUST A SCRATCH UPON THE SKIN
A DROP OF BLOOD TO LET THEM IN
THEIR WORDS WILL CAUSE
THE SWEETEST FRACTURE FROM A STONE'S THROW
JUST A SCRATCH UPON THE SKIN
A DROP OF BLOOD TO WELCOME THEM
PARASITIC, VIRAL CRITICS, OR LOVERS
LIKE SPIRITS MINGLING IN THE MIST
THAT WE CRAFTED, A STARVING JURY
LET THEM EAT SHIT FROM OUR TREMBLING HANDS

THE HEAT FOR HEAT'S SAKE
ON THIS BARNARD BLOCK OF CONGRESS
DEDUCTIVELY SPEAKING THE POLAR OF PROGRESS
WELL MAYBE I PUT TOO MUCH FAITH IN the accident
Entranced, we danced toward the ripest display of escape
(Let the starving ghosts feats (3x))
From this flesh, from these bones

LET THEM ALL FEAST
(LIGHT AS A FEATHER
STAND BACK LET THE STARVING GHOSTS FEAST (3x))
IN THIS CHESS GAME OF LANGUAGE
FORCED TO SIT SO I PLAY ALL ALONE
WATCH THE BATHOS DRIFT FORTH LIKE
THE PETALS FROM A WILD CRAFTED ROSE
