is fucking sweet.


My fav release of DOOM yet. The only one that comes close is the PSX version, because it had a really badass arrangement of one of the themes, but that version didn't include the original tunes.


Why would I prefer to play this version to the PC version? Not only are there some nice graphical filters to make it look a little more hi-def


but most kickass of all...

split-screen co-op.



Maybe it's just such a big deal to me because I've never gotten to play it co-op, especially with a friend, and since my computer is down, split-screen is the only option

but it does look really nice on the 360, and I'd actually prefer to play DOOM with a controller



DOOM is simply timeless. To me, at least, there is something very surreal about that game. As far as videogames go, this one definitely does something very right. It used to give me nightmares... now it makes me happy.

DOOM/DOOM II for xboxlive = FUCK YES.

I actually read the novels based on the game, in the 5th grade, before I ever got to play the game.

Since I was only in the 5th grade,  I can't say how well those novels hold up now, but at the time they were extremely entertaining, immersive, and did something to me on a subconscious level. So the game DOOM represents a bit more to me than it probably does to a lot of people... that has seriously given me doom-related nightmares consistently throughout my life, and hence, like I implied, the game used to be quite the mindfuck for me. It still has that surrealness for me, but now it's something I really cherish. And getting violent in that game is fun as hell. Sorry if it doesn't quite do for you what it does for me, but in my opinion this game is quite simply the shit.

well you know, you can get it for free on PC

but I wouldn't be able to play through it split-screen co-op (there is online co-op though),
and unlike most FPSs, I find a controller more convenient for DOOM


I don't know if it's worth buying an expensive next-gen console just to play a 10 +year old game,
but I did find it worth it to buy the xbox version despite the fact I could have got it for free for PC, for personal preferences

i think doom 1 is only 400 xbl points, and doom 2 is currently 800. Well worth it, imo

yeah it's the co-op that draws me. I need a mouse for virtual dome busting though.

well with Doom, you don't have to worry about aiming up or down (it does it for you), so it's really not such an issue.

take it from me, a skilled CS:S player with a high-end gaming mouse...with DOOM, it really feels just as natural with a controller. I kinda prefer the PS1 control setup, but this one also makes sense and works just fine


about the split screen co-op... you can have up to 4 player split screen co-op, im pretty sure.  I've only played 2-player, and if you have the screen size maxed out on a decent size monitor, the split screen really doesnt feel too small or detrimental







by the way, the ONLY way to play DOOM... is AT LEAST set to Ultra-Violence

Seriously though, the difference in overall experience between playing on hurt me plenty, and playing on ultra-violence (i'm not ready for nightmare yet), makes all the difference. You NEED to play at least on ultra-violence

co-op is pretty damn sweet, btw

I was just playing some 2-player split screen co-op,

on ultra-violence...


so many enemies to kill, so many secrets to find (and co-op helps, finding those hidden doors that open when you walk past a certain spot),


as far as videogames go... so much fun, and such a great game

Too bad you can't use the cheat codes on the xbox 360 version.  I loved playing that game back in the days when everyone had a 486 pc.

Do they really have Doom 2 on xbox live?  I got to check that out.

yeah, doom is like 5 bucks and doom 2 is 10.

I am still more impressed in many ways by these games, than tons of what has come after
