Backing up XBox Games
    #5093267 -

It's not possible to burn them using a Computer alone is it?

I looked it up and most sites say you need to use an ftp server on your xbox.

anyone know how its done and has some advice?

you have to first mod your xbox, with either a chip or what is called a TSOP flash, which is flashing the motherboard bios, then just like youve read, you must ftp into your xbox and transfer all the files from the D:/ drive to your comp.  The xbox dvd-rom is the only one that can read original xbox games.

soft mod is referring to the TSOP flash (same thing), and either this or a chip MUST be done in order to bypass the security of the xbox.

I soft modded my Xbox, it's pretty simple. You just need a USB stick (or the Action Replay gameshark-thing), a copy of the original-release of Mechassault, and Micro$oft's Phantasy Star Online Xbox-USB adapter (or attach a female USB port to your Xbox controller cable (which is really a USB cable). Then you load a hacked gamesave using the USB stick and run it with that game. It overwrites your dashboard and lets you run unsigned content. Modding (soft or hard) will remove the Xbox's restrictions and allow it to run content that hasn't been signed by M$.
Once you've "unlocked" the xbox, you can play burned games, run homebrew software, install Linux, etc. Game isos are burned to plain old Dvds.
Alot of information and tutorials at www.xbox-scene.org , check the "Gamesave Exploits" section of their forums. If you can't find the gamesaves in what they call the "usual places," pm me and I'll hook you up.
