Coco Coir from Miracle Grow?

They sell this stuff at the local hardware store, has Coir and Moss, anyone tried this as a casing layer? is it any good or am I better off ordering a coir brick as i cant find any here (or maybe im not looking at the right place)

you're probably better off getting straight coir, but this stuff might work. what kind of consistency does the texture have?

check the bag for the ingredients . Miracle Grow likes to add a lot of chems to their products . also check for an NEC # (ie 0-0-0)means % nit.-phos-pot ash .
and dose it say what Ph ?

Might get some pretty naraly shrooms if you use that and it works.

it says on the web page, 'enhanced with Miracle-Gro plant food', which is water soluble, so if you can rinse it well enough it might make a good casing .
only one way to know fersure  :smile:

i think if ud do a search on miracle gro where on the site most of the opinions say its a no go on the miracle gro

but hell u could always try
dont use it if its ur first grow though if u want garunteed fruits

I was concerned about the fertilizer in the mix, I know the coir and moss is good. The suggestion of rinsing it thouroughly is a good one, Ill go grab a bag and try it out, gonna rinse the hell out of it, let it soak for a few hours, then rinse again, like yas said, its worth a try!

I will make a grow log with this test, using same strain, one 50/50, one this miracle grow stuff. Ill test with Maz or EQ. I would love to post pics but im chicken shit of incriminatin myself. If anyone can give me some tips on how I could post here anonomously and somewhere I could upload pics, id be willing to give it a shot, I dont want to be able to have my IP traced. Im just a small time hobby grower but I am a parent too and would never forgive myself for getting busted because I made posts.

right, Miracle-Gro is no good for mushies .thats why i said, IF you can rinse it well enough :smirk:

awhy not just get it without miracle grow man, id hate to see all ur hord work go down the drain. ur just gunna rinse it anyways. remove the step.

If I could find straight coir I would definately do that, Its just that this is the ONLY source of coir ive been able to find locally ;(
