Amanitas

I got some amanitas comin in this weedend and i have never tried this kind of mushroom b4. Is it really all that different from psilocybin containing mushrooms? Ne tips?

very different...
think about making tea, or even soup, outa 5 to 15 grams of A. muscaria (maybe half that for A. pantherina)...
there used to be an Amanita section on the front page here at the shroomery...

as far as i know aminitas(SP?) are poisonous so start with roughly 1-2 grams becareful cuz it could kill you

There are a few edible species of amanitas which are actually quite tasty. There are also some very poisonous ones, so if you're hunting you really gotta know your IDs. The commonly psychoactive one is the Amanita Muscaria.

I've dosed on approximately 5 grams of dried Muscaria and it was an extremely mild experience. I also smoked the skin of the cap as per the instructions over at erowid and experienced nothing save a little bit of oxygen deprivation :tongue:

Boy is it different from the psilocybe kind! The main similarity that I've noticed is laughing at just about anything. I'd never noticed that much in way of visuals on amanitas, maybe a little CEVs and things just look a little brighter than usual, that's about all. Whereas I find psilocybes mellow me out, amanitas rev me up, give me lots o energy. Amanitas taste much better, too. Meaty.

Best recipe I've ever tried myself: take the shroom(s) and cut in half length wise. Wrap in tinfoil and place in oven at around 350F for about an hour. It seems you need to heat them in order to convert one chemical into another. I then chopped the shroom up and mixed in a skillet with some Manwhich TM and we ate with forks. Good eatin', I'd probably eat amanitas even if they didnt' do anything.

I've totally forgotten dosage information, but others haven't. Good luck!
