Where do you think technology will lead us?
    #12615562 -

Will it be our saving grace,
or our inevitable downfall?

I want to know what other people think. Probe your minds, per say. Although, it might be biased asking you guys since technology is essential for our communication here.

Saving grace.  It will certainly allow us to destroy ourselves if we want to, but that's not the technology destroying us, that's just suicide.

Scenario1: Technology blackens the planet before we can escape and populate the galaxy. Untill we get off planet and have permanent sustainable places to live, we have all of our eggs in one basket. Thus our continued survival is at risk.

- OR -

Scenario2: Technology will allow me to download my consciousness into some for of machine, which of course will be reparable and thus nearly immortal. Especially since I will then be able to replicate myself, which I will do in massive amounts. Then my clone-bots will spread throughout the galaxy and beyond, and rule with an iron fist. In this case the survival of biological humankind is immaterial, though I suppose they might make quaint gifts, pets, or zoo exhibits.

The only thing technology really needs to do is to get us able to time travel so we can go back and time and videotape religious events and prove that none of them happened they way they magically happened in every religious text.  Then we as a species will be able to cast off the shackles of ancient, nomadic, desert modes of thought and prepare ourselves for the transition into space...

Any technology other than that is frivolous but still great.

Don't you think that if religious dogmas could be cast off entirely like that, peoples blind faith would get placed into science (the birth of which required many centuries of metaphysical ponderings)?  Same ignorance, new god?

Maybe time-traveling to the past is a waist of time. Maybe technology should be used for better purposes and we should all just learn to accept the past, put our trust in the unknown and the fact that we may never know all the answers. And keep going.
Always keep going. Always forward never back.

well the #1 importance for new technologies is more effective weaponry and defenses on the battlefield. #2 being thangs that will stimulate the economy.

"the #1 importance for new technologies"?

Who could possibly have the authority to decide what's the most important possibility?

Well, it was just a thought. :sherlock: One of many.
But Free, renewable energy would support everyone's interest. A commonwealth of interests.
Though, I can see your point... how would you capitalize on something available to EVERYONE... for free?!!
How will you ever buy all the things we don't need?

If your religion has more than one follower, you need a new religion...

There is light technology and dark technology. We need less dark technology and more light technology.
We need to get the corrupt out of power.
Otherwise it will be our downfall.
