Acoustic Guitar turned Electric?

Has anyone installed pick ups on their acoustic guitar? And I don't mean the Fishpaw pickups that you slide under the strings over the sound-hole, I mean real pick ups installed.

Anyone have any ideas of how to turn an acoustic into an electric?

I have an acoustic electric guitar.. but i didn't install them.

Most acoustics nowadays have them in the guitar stalk.

But i'd imagine it'd be pretty hard installing them yourself without taking the body apart.

i have seen it done. you just have to make a bracket to hold the pickup over the sound hole. looks like crap but...whatever.

ive seen it done too, a little more professionally though. you wouldnt have been able to tell it wasnt an acoustic electric before hand.

Gibson made the j-160e with a single coil mounted above the sound hole.  I strapped an old harmony humbucker into one of my acoustics but the feedback was horrible.  The singer from Marcy Playground did something similar with a $20 dollar guitar and used it exclusively, he ran it through a marshal.  If you listen to any of their songs all of the guitar work is done with it.

I bought 2 pickups that were pre wired to a volume and a tone knob as well as a 1/4" jack for one of my acoustics.
I just had to drill the 3 holes and the pickups glue to the soundboard.
They were pretty inexpensive too.
