Good acoustic guitars?
    #8997970 -

Soon, with a bit of luck, I should be coming into a small amount of [expendable] money. I've wanted a nice acoustic guitar for ages, so I figure what the hell .

I don't have a clue what to look for in acoustics, or what brands are decent, etc.

I have set myself a budget of £400 (~$800) for a nice guitar. Obviously I'm going to shop around and try any potential guitar out before I buy it.

What would you recommend?

Breedlove guitars are absolutely amazing, ESPECIALLY considering their price. Check them out

lol for $800 you can get almost any brand.

top acoustic brands - takamine, guild, gibson, taylor...etc...look around at musiciansfriend.com

i have myself 3 acoustics and 2 electrics. my main acoustic is a taylor baby, its 3/4 size body with a full scale fretboard, set me back $400...but thats hella cheap for a taylor.

i would recommend a takamine, very nice sound, very beautiful black guitars, most are electric acoustic and they don't cost a LOT of money....you're gonna want to buy a nice case, tuner, capo, strap, some strings and picks too...don't forget the accessories!

i always love hearing that people still want to play acoustic, electric is over rated imo.

Well I'm going to go window shopping tomorrow, so I'll keep an eye out .

I was thinking about getting a round-back guitar as the one I played had a really nice sound.

Whatever guitar you buy, the one that ages better will be the one made with Spruce wood.

Yamaha are cheap-made even if they look good. Same for Ibanez. Epiphones; well it depends of the wood and your music style.

Just try a bunch before buying:thumbup:

Well I have an electric (a squier strat) but I've always been more attracted to acoustic guitars. Those takamine guitars look beautiful

I bought a fender dready and it has been great for years. You can't go wrong with Martin/Takamine/Guild/Taylor though. Lotta solid guitar makers out there, I need to start a Martin jar. I only played one a few times, but they are marvelous! Frets sooooooooo much easier than my guitar. Ofcourse if I lowered the action alil bit on mine I am sure it would be better, but not real sure how to go about that! :awesome:

You should check out some Martin acoustic guitars.  Their highest end guitars are in the $1000-$3000 range but you'll be able to afford a really great guitar with an $800 budget.  I like Taylors too. The ones I've played have a great feel and are easy to play but their volume is too low.  You slam the strings as hard as you can (safely, without breaking all the strings) and its still not very loud.  I like my acoustic guitars to be nice and loud.
