Windows 7 kicks ass for Music Production
    #12481355 -

Wow. All I have to say it wow. I used to make music on Windows XP with Cubase and took a break for a while. Installed Windows 7 on a 2.4 ghz intel core duo with 4 gigs of ram and off it went. After Installing Cubase 5, and configuring the usb audio interface (8 ms latency!!!) plugins, I was ready to go. Makes it 1,000 times easier to just plug in something USB and Windows 7 finds the drivers.

I did 0 tweaks to Windows 7, only thing I did was plug in a fast usb stick for the ready boost. Computer is as stable as a damn rock. Amazing! Considering what you had to do in Windows XP; lol! Man I've never used a Mac to make beats, but Windows 7 is the shit compared to XP.

I'm running Windows 7 64 bit and Cubase 5 32bit and it works awesome. The CPU is barely being used with 3 soft synths running. Amazing compared to the older processors.

Either way you can't write music for shit, nor mix or master and record. I could talk so much about music production that your mind would explode from knowledge. It ain't what you got, it's how you use it.

I bet your punk ass has a full studio, with a bunch of useless hardware that is... useless. Considering with soft synths and virtual sound processing plugins one can have the precise same results for less capital, less time and more efficiency. But you already new that right?

It doesn't matter what you use to make music, the end result is what matters. Money is nothing, pride and respect is everything.

I'd express how I feel about you... but it isn't right for the forum. You sure know how to be massively insulting and being a total asshole (the snide kind). But that is most of these forums members anyway.

Way to get in my face saying your system is "unbeatable." Doesn't take a Psychology degree to interpret that as you are saying my system sucks. Thanks for making it a competition! So I guess you have a bigger car then me too; right? You can afford nicer food so you are also better then me in that regard; right? Is your music better then mine too?

I bet it is. I bet you are better then me because when you bought your Mac and paid all this extra money for it, you became a special person. ROFL.

I just told you i sold my system so i dont have one at all, so you are better than me
I only said that mac & firewire connection is unbeatable because it has zero latency & full sound quality playback capability
You went & took it personally

I recommend checking out Jeskola Buzz.  It's a free tracker/modular synthesis program with support for VSTs like Cubase that you don't have to steal.  Fuck Fruity Loops, using nothing but pre-made samples and loops is lame.  I don't know if it's different now, but that's how it was last time I checked it out.

One thing about Buzz is that on Windows 7, you need to switch your theme to "classic" or otherwise disable Aero to get it to run.

I wish I had some tracks to show, but lost them all to a hard drive  failure.  I learned the hard way to always back up my data.

(this Isn't intended to reply to anyone specific.  Just putting it out there for anyone who's interested.)

i'll check out buzz but i already have cubase anyway.  new to this so willing to try anything to see what i like best.

i was under the same impression with fruity loops too after seeing people use it in the past.  i'm using fl 9 producer edition and i haven't used samples or loops.  even getting into making my own synths now instead of using the presets.  seems to have much of what you need, but hey i'm new to this and have much to learn.
