I just got it a few minutes ago.  The popup says "Message From Website" in the top bar, but then it has a microsoft logo under it.  But because it says it's from the website, I'm guessing it's a fake.

It says I have trojans, and I need to download their software.  Had to use ctrl-alt-delete to get out of it, because it kept saying shit like "are you sure" and whatnot.

Did a virus scan with "Windows Live One Care," which is Microsoft's own virus software.  Zero trojans.

Happened a lot a few days ago, then it stopped until a few minutes ago.

Keeping up with the times is following. I thought this site was more of it's own thing instead of keeping up. What is the shroomery following and why do they to do things like that to do so?

I just made a post and this message came up(not a pop up) from the shroomery that said open X has been installed but isn't working.

That happened to me once, too.

You got some malware installed. Download malwarebytes and do a scan in safemode. Then install real virus protection like Avast and run that. I'm running Win 7 with Avast and I don't ever get infections.

I know what it is and what to do, thanks.
My point is that this machine doesn't surf to many sites, and the trouble started when the banner ads did.

This thread was moved from The Pub.

Reason:
This sounds like something the Admins need to be made aware of. I thought "oh he just has a malware infection" at first, but there are a LOT of people experiencing this problem.

Thanks for the heads up. I don't think it's us but for now I disabled all external banners just to be sure.

Had to have been from an advertiser. I haven't gotten any of this at all and I have ads disabled.

Well it might have been malware. If it was only happening on this site it was probably a banner, but he didn't say. Anyway if it happens anymore it's definitely not us. :badcomputer:
