IS the winter gonna affect my spore syringes

im new @ this and was wondering if i orederd some syringes is the cold gonna kill the spores??

Nope they should be fine unless you dont get your mail and wait days and days then I would worry.

hi!
I ordered some syringes from the Netherlands last winter,
no problems occured.
Unless the water in the syringes doesn't freeze, the spores won't be harmed.

I disagree.  About a year ago I recieved a syringe that was about 75% frozen.  I could see spores in the ice.  I left it in the package it was in for a day.  When the jars were innoculated, no difference in growth was noticed.  I may of just got lucky, but as long as the plunger does'nt get knocked out from the ice then I would say even if there is ice in the syringe it would still be ok.

*** Anyone else have any experiences with freezing syringes?  Please share.

spores are very resiliant. They have a portective coating over them and they only germinate when conditions are just right. They are much more resitiant to cold then they are to heat.

Mushroom spores are one of only a few living organisms that can travel through outer space and survive.....Maybe some indication here on the cold weather question...
