GIANT Orissa Cap Printing

Orissa India are renowned for growing monster fruits and I've got a whopper that I want to print but the only problem is that NONE of my drinking glasses are big enough for taking a spore print of the cap !
My question is is it possible to cut the cap into quarters and use them to make prints with drinking glasses or could I use a non opaque container to put over the cap such as a large tupperware container ???
I've never had this problem before so any input would be great.

It's just that everyone always suggests using glasses which are opaque right ?
I just thought that the caps needed a little light or something to release the spores...
I've made LOADS of spore prints & syringes in the past but haven't encounted caps of this size before.

Hi Biotek - that monster sounds delicious! how much did it weigh, wet? and what'd you grow it on?
You use the word 'opaque'...... did you mean transparent? light is not needed to drop spores.
Just let the cap dry out slowly when it's looking dark unerneath - use a washing up bowl or tub, and put a towel under the paper, so the cap can dry out gradually.

That's one I haven't heard before.
In EVERY document I've read about printing it ALWAYS says to use a drinking glass.
Well I'll try using a bowl or something it's just that I don't wanna ruin this monster print !

Hiya Shirley ! Long time no see !
This AMAZINGLY came off just a simple BRF cake (believe it or not) even though I normally make casings...
If you remember one of my previous PM's to you Shirley I told you that I'm TERRIFIED of using pressure cookers nowadays after one exploded and TRASHED MY ENTIRE KITCHEN ! So I tend to just use methods that don't envolve pressure cookers.

Luckily all my friends and myself were in the other room but it sounded like a nuclear explosion had gone off ! If we had actually been in the kitchen I'm sure some of us would have died !
Unfortunately I don't have a digi camera to post pics of the cap and the only scales I have are some shitty "weight watcher" ones that aren't very reliable at all but take it from me this Orissa strain is WELL WORTH CULTIVATING !!!

Just print them in a container. I printed some Orissa's that were over 5" wide.
I never use glasses for making prints.
I'm still waiting for someone to break mj's record of 22" with the Orissa India. My largest so far is 21".

Low fat ? LOL !!!
Sorry for the late reply, I've just finished making a Mazatapec casing !
I didn't even bother weighing it to be quite honest as it gives a WAY OFF READING compared to my friends digital scales.. I keep meaning to buy digis but I've been out of a job since November but I'm gonna get some as soon as I've gotta bit of cash to work with !

Hiya Roadkill. I found this giant a bit hard to measure in height as it kinda went all corkscrewy if you know what I mean.. These Orissas throw off loads of mutants I've found. I had one shroom growing literally upside down !!!

Sorry ! Just realized you mentioned it was made from cloth. Gotta stop skim reading ! Unfortunately it's too late to measure it now as I've already started printing and have the stem under a fan which has shriveled somewhat but it was nowhere near yours or Mushroom John's giants.. I'm gonna have to raid my moms sewing kit for future experiments !!!
