thinking about moving to canada
    #12019996 -

well, lately ive been considering leaving the US, mostly because everything that this country used to stand for has been forgotten, in my opinion. ive always wanted to visit canada, but never got the chance. where i live, its impossible to get a job anymore, even worse since the recession. i live like, 350-400 miles from the border, and if i can get a chance, i want to go visit, but im not sure where. my question is- what do i need to become a canadian citizen?

I recommend holding back on moving to Canada. At least until Stephen Harper is out of office.

you dont really need anything other then a visa a passport and a american citizenship. you really should there are a ton of job opportunities everywhere almost the housing is affordable like 500-700 range for 1 bed with untilities in most places cheaper the smaller the town and we have free health care so you wont be denied treatment of a gunshot wound simply cause you dont have insurance the loonie is far more stable then the american dollar right now also and stephen harper is not a bumbling idiot like obama and actually does something with his election time productive for the country

Although I'm not sure of the particulars, Canada does have a fairly strict immigration policy-- something to do with points earned for certain desirable traits [education, sponsor, work skills, etc].

My experience is that there are very little available jobs right now. It may not be as bad as in the US, but definitely not a 'ton of job opportunities'.

In fact, odds are you won't even get that gunshot wound.

I'm surprised you think this. All comparisions to Obama aside, what has Stephen Harper done that is productive?
He is attempting to increase drug penalties [among other lame 'tough on crime' policies], he has no position for environmental sustainability, he has brought this country into a debt after saying many times that he would never do this.. and then the fact that parliament isn't even in session right now-- now that sure is productive.

what is this productiveness you speak of?

When I was planning on moving to canada I bought 2 books,

Moving to Canada and finding employment (sounds like you are worried about this)
and
Immigrating to Canada.

I never read them bc I decided not to go. They are brand new and I would be interested in selling them together. :pm: if you interested.

The availability of jobs all depends on where you're planning to move and what you want to do.

The west coast tends to be more expensive than the east coast, but there's more to do in realm of standard employment.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index.asp should provide you with further information about the processes.

Which area of Canada were you thinking of moving to?

Often times, white people get frustrated with the state of their country. They do not like the President, or Congress, or the health care system, or the illegal status of Marijuana. Whenever they are presented with a situation that seems unreasonable to them, their first instinct is to threaten to move to Canada.

For example, if you are watching TV with white people and there is a piece on the news about that they do not agree with, they are likely to declare “ok, that’s it, I’m moving to Canada.”

Though they will never actually move to Canada, the act of declaring that they are willing to undertake the journey is very symbolic in white culture. It shows that their dedication to their lifestyle and beliefs are so strong, that they would consider packing up their entire lives and moving to a country that is only slightly different to the one they live in now.

Within white culture, it is agreed upon that if Canada had better weather it would be a perfect place.

Being aware that this information can be used quite easily to gain the trust of white people. Whenever they say, “I’m moving to Canada,” you must immediately respond with “I have relatives in Canada.”

They will then expect you to tell them about how Canada has a perfect healthcare system, legalized everything, and no crime. Though not true, it will reassure them that they are making the right choice by saying they want to move there.

But be warned, they will reference you in future conversations and possibly call on you to settle disputes about Canadian tax rates. So use this advice only if you plan to do some basic research.

Note: Canadian white people threaten to move to Europe.

Note: Europeans are unable to threaten to move anywhere.

Haha. So much truth in this post. I always see 'I'm thinking of moving to Canada' threads.. never a 'I moved to Canada' thread. :feelsbadman:

Ahh! We were so close!
... but are you saying if we let global warming keep trucking, in about 20 years Canada will be the perfect place? No wonder our PM doesn't want to stop it then! He's a smart guy!

Canada is the 2nd largest country in the world, yet has 1/10th the population of the United States. I think there's more than enough room for all those white people threatening to move up there.
