I think the power you have is very real.  And, if you are saying that there is a little God in everyone... I get that sentiment. but if you say, "I am God" that can lead to dangerous ego-delusions.

I have been down that road before.

I make it my goal not to tap into my own powers, but the power of the collective unconscious.

Once again, I am not trying to put you down.  I think your post was great.  But, "I am God" can prove to be very tricky business.

i agree with MOTH and think we are all gods and goddesses with enormous potentiality for transcendent, elevated existences.  what i got from her post is there is now nothing she needs from anyone or anything outside herself.  realizing you have everything you need within you, how beautiful!!!!

Re: BEING MY OWN POWER. [Re: MOTH]
    #11954262 -

You know.. it comes to mind that i should say that i am happy for you.
but then something just gnaws  on me and wont let me do it.

in these kind of moments i get this urge to seek out it out even deeper.
why would i not want to declare that i am happy for you  ?
i could say that i am happy because you're happy..
but it seems that "happy" isn't quite the word to describe what you are going through.

If i feel happy for someone , for any other reason but their own happiness , am i not just kinda approving them ?

See.. like you said..
people seek approval, recognition and bottom line , they all just want attention.

So its a two sided game.
Our entire system of interaction is flawed at its base.

If everybody could be happy for someone thats happy..
we'd all get happy in a bit..

But.. that doesn't seem to be the case.
WE're all mostly miserable.

Peoples thoughts are mostly negative and repetitive and they all basically come from this mind made image that constantly compares itself to others , and judges them.

Quote:
And, if you are saying that there is a little God in everyone... I get that sentiment. but if you say, "I am God" that can lead to dangerous ego-delusions.

See.. right here.
He had no problem whatsoever telling you right now , that he thinks your statements can lead to dangerous ego-delusions.
Its honest.
I like that.
He read it , and evaluated you, compared you to him.
Gave you his own opinion.. and told you that yours might lead to something negative.

I conclude , that he doesn't think He is god. :sherlock:

In creating this difference , between self and other and so blatantly giving more credit to his own opinion i believe he did a little self empowerment too.
Affirming his own belief while discrediting yours he emphasized who He is , a little bit more.

But i think this self-empowerment would be false.
And its flawed from the very start.
Because it required someone else.

By actually affirming ones mind made image of self , one doesn't gain energy ,he gives it away to this concept.

And that's what it all boils down to.

If you can see yourself , separate from your thoughts.
If you stop identifying with them , you remember a little bit of who you really are under all the drama and i think when this happens you see others more clearly too.
Theres sort of like an instant recognition of all the same things you find in yourself.
The potential , the power, the uniqueness ..
and whit that comes a deep sense of respect for the other.
Even though it is a separate entity , you see a little bit of home in hir.

Im still not gonna say im happy for you...

Congratulations dude.  I'm proud of ya.  You've overcome quite a huge obstical on your road.  Just to give you (and others) another way of looking at the concept of understanding that one is God, Brahman, Buddha-nature, Ultimate Reality, or what-have-you before I encourage you to go further.

The common logical mechanism will classify everything we interact with into seperate, individual entities. This has its benifits, especially for navigating one's material form.  However, this does present some problems when attempting to define the self.  What exactly constitutes the self?  In terms of one's body and mind (material mind that is), the body is constantly changing.  You breath in air one second, absorb oxygen from it, and exhale what's left the next.  You eat a meal and your body uses various nutrients to either store as energy for later use, or do a whole slew of different things to change your body.

In looking at a single cell in your body, that cell is very much you, yet has an individual identity simultaniously.  That cell is going to die long before "you" do, but in the grand scheme of things, it's just energy moving from one place to the next (as all things break down into energy at their purest form).  Yet despite this, there is still a bigger whole made up of these incredibly diverse parts.

In going back to your revelation that you are God, it becomes a very similar situation as to the one above (although such a statement does begin to shape an understanding of what God is, which is subject to differing understandings).  If I'm interpreting you correctly, and I like to think that I am, I completely agree.  To me, God (by the way I'm gonna use the phrase "God" cus this it happens to be the most common word to describe this concept in the West) is all that is.  The sum of all parts, the greater whole.  That would make each of us, as being a part of that whole, God.

This can be misunderstood however, which is what others seem to have been trying to make sure you're aware of.  This whole endeavor really brings it all back to the question of "Who are you?" or "What do you identify with?"  It seems to me that you are beginning to identify more and more with all that is, rather than merely the body or mind.  This is what makes it so easy to relish in other people's happiness and empathize with other people's sorrows.  If you begin to identify more with all that is, then those other people are just as much you as you are.  The concern that others seem to be expressing is that you want to be careful with the understandings you're coming to, and to make sure that you don't begin to slide back into identifying with the body and mind and thinking that that is God (if that makes any sense to ya).

This is where I'd encourage you to go even further as to make sure such an understanding doesn't begin to lose its effect, or worse, turn into (as mentioned by others) mere fuel for your ego.  This understanding definately completely changes your perception of the world, but it doesn't even stop there.  While understanding the whole is incredibly important, one of the next steps is to understand the roles of all the individual parts.

For example, if you are God, than what is the purpose of your body, your mind, your soul, your wisdom (the soul's mind for this explaination), and God in general?  Why do they interact in the way they do?  Now that you know more of who you are, rather than scrambling to know who you aren't, your lense is significantly more cleansed.  Hopefully through this process, you've understood the nature of suffering, which is the biggest obscuration of your lense.  With a clearer picture of the things you interact with, you can get a much better understanding of the individual parts of the whole you've come to know that you are.

Keep goin dude, the rabbit hole goes even deeper ^_<  Give yourself a pat on the back too cus man you've come a long way to get where you're at now  :P

Great post MOTH.

If I'm God though why can't I move mountains with my mind alone or be omniscient/omnipotent?  Perhaps I am a forgetful God...

I think we can't move mountains etc. because that's the way this dimension was designed, so it can't just be ruined by one enlightened mind. It is thought responsive though, just not to that degree.

In my past,  I had the belief that "I was God" , but I found that this belief ended up being me becoming a self-serving being.  And, in my view of God, God is an all-perfect being of love.  And I know that I am not.  I have selfish desires a lot of the time, and other times resort to self-pity.  If you guys live your life free from these type of feelings, then perhaps you are Gods.

I believe God's power lies in all-knowing love of yourself and others.  And, sometimes I can draw into God's power.  But, certainly not all the time, and therefore, I don't tell myself I am God because I see what a flawed being I can be.

i agree with you.  i believe we all have that power within us, and as we let go of bad thought patterns and negative habits...as the dust starts to settle, so to speak...that power shines forth more and more and more.  as a non-dualist thinker, i believe that we all have access within us to experience that "satchitananda" (truth, knowledge, bliss absolute).

i see what you're saying though.

do you think "god" is some power outside of our beings?

my personal opinion is yes, i believe there is a cosmic energy all around us that we can tap into.  i don't really believe he energy grows within us, rather it is in world for us to take in. for me, "god" is something you breathe in, not breathe out.

aghorrorag --> Wouldn't saying God is everywhere but in humans be the same as saying God is *only* found in humans? or is this not what your saying? I don't see why we can't breathe in and out [with] God.

Anyway, very cool to hear, MOTH  I love hearing about people learning more about themselves and reality. I don't recall reading whether you ended up enrolling in classes or not, but if you did and it has spawned this, then you certainly read your intuition correctly.

MOTH, have you read any of the sufi poets?  Rumi, Hafiz?  you totally sound like they do in their ecstatic love poems to God.

Why Abstain?

Why

Abstain from love

When like the beautiful snow goose

Someday your soul

Will leave this summer

Camp?

Why

Abstain from happiness

When like a skilled lion

Your heart is

Nearing

And

Will someday see

The divine prey is

Always

Near!
