first off, a preemptive 'fuck you' to anyone with intentions of telling me what i already know in regards to smoking being an unhealthy habit.

but i really wanted a goddamn cigarette.  haven't had one in a couple days.  i'm out of tobacco... or am i? 

went through my garbage and collected half a dozen cig roaches and gathered the baccy.  there's totally enough for a cigarette. 

righteous.  :cool:

btw, i don't really see this as sinking to a new low as a cig smoker.  using things out of the garbage has never bothered me.  in fact, i'm quite proud of the fact.  i hate wasting stuff.

some idiot i know cought tuberculosis doing that but it was not his smokes he was diging out the trash

you can lol all you like, but you left out the part where i said i use stuff from the garbage all the time.  this had more to do with my anti-waste lifestyle than my desire for a cigarette.

in college, i furnished my dormroom with dumpster dived treasures and i actively participated in freeganism feasting.

That makes no sense at all considering TB has to be transmitted via the air and the bacteria dies within like 10 seconds after being expelled from the infected persons lungs unless someone else inhales it.

So no, you do not know some idiot who caught TB from doing that.

The way you said it I thought you meant he got TB from digging butts out of garbage cans which would never happen.  But yea if he is sharing a cig with an infected person right after they hit it then yea it's possible.

i never really thought about collecting the tobacco left in roaches before.  it always seemed like such a negligible amount.  but i was curious.  as it turns out, it adds up pretty quickly.  with this newfound knowledge, i'm just going to start emptying the roaches back into the tobacco bag so i don't have to go through the trouble of rummaging.

also, for the record, this was my bedroom trash and it's just one small plastic bag.  all the contents are dry paper and plastic.  so it's not like it's filled with decaying food or anything.

BTW OP I too have made cigarettes out of butts that I found in my trash but I recognize that this was due to my horrendous addiction to smoking at the time.  :shrug:

At least one of you is being up front about smoking garbage based cigarettes, and the addiction potential of nicotine. :lol:

Nicotine has such a vice grip on people (I was one!) and you just can't see it until you are free.

PS - I never smoked a cigarette from the trash, but I do remember doing some crazy shit to get my nic fix! I cannot express in words how happy and elated I am to be free of it.
