I'm not a psychologist, or anything to be honest, but I think it's just your mind.
My advice would be to lay off the drugs and work at healing your psyche. Be sure to get lots of rest, take supplements, eat healthy, and try to reason through your thoughts.
Next time you get paranoid, pop a squat and meditate on it-first know that what you are thinking isn't true, then try to convince yourself of it. Enough tries at this and you'll eventually begin to see a pattern and that it is all your mind. At this point, it's easy to not have these paranoid thoughts. Hell, even look up 'paranoia'. You'll find a million stories exactly like yours.
Try to handle the hypochondria, which I see as just a subset of paranoia, in a similar way. A big help for this would be to actually research whatever it is you think might be wrong with you (without looking at an 'other symptoms' list) and learn about it. You'll see that you most likely don't have it.. when you go to look at the 'other symptoms' list you'll notice that you start to have those, too-this helps console the fact that it is just your mind.
I found meditation to be the key. It can unlock the gate to (or state of) the healing of your psyche. Even once a day for 15 minutes had great results (for me). Research is another big player. You obviously have access to the internet, use it wisely! Kicking the drugs, though, is a must. Even if you manage to heal your psyche, abusing the drugs is just going to revert it. I'd say keep with sparse recreational drug use, but not until after you've gotten a hold of your mind. Try making a plan. Once you find something that works, stick with it.
I've had similar problems in both areas-and the above are some techniques I used to help control them. An overview of what happened to me is below:
They first started occurring after extended drug abuse.. I began to notice that every time I would get fucked up I would get paranoid or think something was wrong with me. I would ingest a drug, my heart rate would increase, I'd start to think that songs were about me, anxiety, and I'd start getting pains in my body. Each time I'd convince myself that I was having a heart attack, stroke, serotonin syndrome, that I was on a TV show (being video taped), my chest would start hurting, etc. A few deliriant trips increased these feelings significantly while intoxicated-which is a point at which I went to check my eyes often to see if they were yellow. Hmm.. so far we've thought almost exactly the same!
For many reasons, I stopped my drug use. I noticed that these negative thoughts and feelings carried over into my sober life for quite some time; this is where I decided they were just thoughts in my mind and that I needed to fix them.
I was on a path of bettering myself... I stopped taking hard drugs and took to tobacco, weed, and alcohol on occasion. Smoking weed seemed to trigger these thoughts that I had been trying to overcome. For the duration of the high, I would be extremely paranoid (even more-so than with harder drug use mixed with cannabis). These feelings/thoughts would last for about half a day after I awoke the next morning, but would go away.
I started smoking weed more regularly and noticed I was basically having a thought relapse. The use of weed was recreating what happened as a result of my previous drug use. I realized that the crazy was starting to carry over into my sober life again. I focused on re-healing my psyche and becoming more healthy. It worked quickly this time and this is when I knew it was the drugs messing with my mind.
I'm still bettering my psyche as I still get hypochondriac pains and thoughts from time to time. The paranoia has been cut significantly-and even when I do have a paranoid thought it's easy to recognize. Weed still induces these states of mind quite often, so I've cut back a lot and almost use weed now as a mental control test rather than a means to get fucked up.
^^ I know that is long but I figured it might help you, yourtman, realize that it does happen to a lot of people and only you can fix it. I'm sure there are many who don't-and I probably wouldn't want to meet them.
Try to realize that you are your thoughts.
Hope this helped.
